Just put my first 10 speed chain on a mtn bike and it was a bit different than the 991 I was used to. The 991 has a powerlink that easily slid on and off. The 1090 has a powerlink too but I could not get it to "seat" with just my hands and per instructions used some pedal pressure to get it to seat.

Now I know the 9 speed said it should not be reused but it always came off easily for cleaning. No way is this 10 speed powerlink coming off. Does that sound right?

I use KMC chains with their missing link. Works just like SRAM's 9 speed quick link. I have also used the KMC missing link on an Ultegra 10 speed chain. Fit is a bit tight as the Shimano chains are just slightly wider than KMC.....but it works fine. I am getting my first SRAM 10 speed chain tonight for my MTB. Will be using a KMC link on that chain also but will keep the SRAM powerlock for trailside repair if I ever break a chain.

I have successfully (so far) reused a SRAM 10-speed quick link. The 10 speed missing link might be a better way to go.
I need to move my chain, so wondering how you removed that PowerLock. They are much tighter than the old PowerLink. If I need to break the chain elsewhere and add a new PowerLock or KMC link that is fine too.
