10 speed cassette question?

I am building my Scott Genius and have a question about running a 10 speed rear cassette. Is it possible to run a 10 speed cassette with a sram xo short RD and Sram xo 9speed shifters? Do I have to get shifters for a 10 speed or can these be adjusted to work? I want to run a 2x10 settup and will be using the Rotor q rings up front 27-40. New to building bikes and trying to learn, sorry if its a dumb question.
