I've been happy with my '08 F29 RLC. But I do miss the Reba's remote lockout. And a 15QR would be nice. Fox offered both in '10, so I figured I'd get one eventually. Maybe soon. No rush...except I now see that the new Terralogic model is replacing the remote model for '11 (26" riders can still chose).

Reading how Terralogic works, maybe its ideal for me. After all, Fox intends to sell it to SS riders just like me -- torn between their elemental need for a rigid bike, and the practical benefits of a suspension fork for rocky desert trails.

Or maybe I'd hate the way it feels/operates. Will it be like Spesh's brain shock: every new version is toted as finally fulfilling the genious of the original concept ... until the following version is released, at which time the previous version is dismissed as inherently flawed!

Terralogic: terribly expensive, an unreachable lockout threshold knob, and no chance at trail-testing it. Sounds like a terribly risky purchase. So, should I run out and buy a '10 F29 FIT Remote 15QR before they're gone?

Remote lockout vs. Terralogic

Thoughts?

Granted, you haven't ridden the new Terralogic...

Btw, I've owned 3 Rebas and they're fine, but I prefer the feel of my Fox. And a retro-fitted remote lockout ain't happening.

I'd hold out for an '11 model. My RLC120 us having a new crown/steerer installed due to all the hideous creaking. The '11 models have a beefier crown to help fix this. I know numerous others who have has crown issues on the '10s. My '09s were a bit noisy, but nothing like the '10.

My '11 Talas has been good, so far. I can't wait for their beefier model to come out.

But that's my issue - it looks like Fox isn't offering a remote lockout model for 29ers in 2011.

Terralogic and a remote lock-out serve similar purposes, and I'd guess Fox is thinking Terralogic is superior, and is only offerering it for 2011.

I like the idea of not having to toggle a lock-out knob (the upside of the "seamless" Terralogic). But a remote lockout allows the fork to be set plush, and then locked out on climbs, yielding both a stiffer out-of-saddle platform and better descending capability.

I suppose if your trails feature constantly varying terrain with lots of short technical climbs, the Terralogic makes a lot of sense. But if your climbs are longer, or you just love the supreme efficiency of climbing with a (quasi) rigid fork, a remote makes a lot of sense. Plus the remote model can still be run racer-boy style (locked-out, with a carefully tuned blow-off threshold). I think I'd prefer a remote lockout, and since I can't test the Terralogic feature, I can't see taking the risk of buying one...Except that I may not have a choice once the '10 remote models are gone.
