To make an old Schwinn I converted to SS a little more comfy geometry wise, I had to remove my 1997 Judy and install a 1" rigid with a steer tube that was long enough to solve the problem.

Now I have this 63 mm susp. fork w/ 1" steer tube just laying around. It was still a decent performer when it came off the bike. I've been thinking that if I can use it again, I may install the Englund Total Air upgrade. I'm starting to think that maybe I could send my current SS to my family's cabin as a fun commuter and build up a little better SS-specific bike. I would want to do it with the option to upgrade the fork later.

Does someone make a headset or insert that can allow a modern 1 1/8" frame to use a fork with a 1" steer tube? Cane Creek has a 1.5" to 1 1/8" headset available but I haven't found anything else. This is just an idea I have rolling around, but want to see if I can take it anywhere!

Thanks

King also makes a headset that will do it with no adapter cups....

"We also make a Devolution headset that allows you to use a 1" fork in an 1-1/8" frame. This addresses the newer trend of using 1-1/8" headtubes on road bikes. You can still use your old 1" fork on your shiny new frame "
