If that is the case, than the published weights are really not a fair comparison between the Lefty and the Headshok DLR (I'm weighing the advantages on a Taurine 1 between keeping the Headshok or upgrading to a Lefty Carbon SL). I'm sure the Headshok weight includes the steerer tube as it is an integral part of the suspension mechanism. So far I've come up with the following tradeoffs: 1) The Lefty costs over $1000 extra (over the cost of the bike) to buy 2) The Lefty offers more travel, but this may not be that important for a hardtail 3) The Lefty allows me to get a better fit by using an extended steerer tube with spacers below the stem. (I need an 81 cm saddle to bb center). I need this on my scalpel, but I'm not sure whether I would with the Taurine, as the BB is about 2cm lower. 4) The Headshok makes buying wheelsets easier.
Sounds like the weight may be pretty close, but I've never actually weighed my steerer tube.
