Ummm... I have a EX 8 and my bike comes with a M542 crank. Not that bad, but not the lightest or stiffest by any stretch. If you have an EX 8, you have neither the BB30 or the BB90. You have the standard Shimano outboard bearing cups, which means you can use just about any BB/crank set up out there. The BB shell on the 2009 EX's are 68mm, so you should have 3 spacers between the cups and BB shell - one on one side and two on the other. This adapts the BB from standard 73mm to 68mm. If you upgrade to a new Shimano XT crank, just keep the spacers and reuse them to make sure your chainline is correct.:thumbsup:dr13zehn said:Ah yes, thanks. That was the problem.
