I really like my Vanilla for the most part. I don't like how it spikes through its travel and that I can bottom it out fairly easy on bigger hits. I've heard the 08/09 dampers are better. Can anyone comment?

have you changed the bath oil yet?
I hear the '07 van36s often shipped with too little oil in one or both lowers, so a drain/refill can make em a lot smoother. It did with mine.

Sure did. I also threw new Enduro seals in it as well. Smoothness has never been issue for me with the Van36. The issue has been bottom out and spiking.

Go to Fox's site, they explain how you can adjust bottomout resistance. If spiking is an issue, you may want to try lighter weight damper oil and/or tune out some of the high speed compression.

Something's amiss here. Bottoming out, as well as spiking? This shouldn't be a problem with these forks. The bottom out I can understand, but with spiking?
