07 XT vs 08 XT

Your opinion, worth it? I would be moving from 07 Deore to XT. Everything but brakes. I'm thinking Juicy 7 for those.

I have all in M760 XT (actually 04 XT for me :p ) and I plan on ghetting the shadow derailleur and maybe the hydro brake levers... I would go for the cheaper M760 XT parts now (cranks and such) and maybe get the shadow RD from the 08...

It really depends on the parts.

Cranks: M770
Cassettes: M760
RDs: M772
Other parts: Who cares?
The 08 XT cranks and shifters are more appealling than the current XT.

visually?
x2? I'm more concerned with fit and function.
The shifters are more of a visual appeal due to the clamp and neat little mechanism cover for the shift indicator (if it's removed). The cranks are the same design as the XTR M970 cranks, which I can personally vouch for, and the pinch bolt is gone.

As far as function, I'm not sure anyone can answer that yet. They aren't available in the US, are they?

I'd prefer just the opposite--SRAM drivetrain (except XT cranks) and XT brakes.
I've ridden the new stuff a few times. the Shimano guys had a bike at the world cup in Mont Saint Anne that you could take for a ride. the new shiters and RD is amazing. The brakes......Holy Sh!t.... they are by far the best out there right now. Shimano says the new servo-wave lever and the new caliper body produce 20% more braking power over previous versions. Some Kona riders were using them in the DH race. Fabian Barel was using a 6" rotor on the back of his bike and said he had plenty of brake power.
Neither!

I'd rather choose 750 stuff with 752 cranks. I'm kind of retrograde.
I'm still running a 752 crank on my FS bike. It's holding up well, but admittedly, I don't hammer on it too bad.
