So I took a chunk out of my Talas's stanchions this weekend at Sunpeaks. they still work. it was pretty clean so it's not a huge deal. it just looks ugly.

I have a friend who is about to throw away his 06 Vanilla RC2 because they have cracked lowers. He's is willing to give me the fork.

Could I use my talas 36 lowers and the Vanilla stanchions and internals to make a fork?

Yes, you can swap as long as his Vanilla is a 36 Vanilla. Or you could call Fox and buy a new crown and he could buy new lowers and end up with 2 working forks.

If i'm not mistaken, the vanilla uppers will not work with the Talas system because the inside of the stanchions need to be very smooth for the talas seals. Also I believe the talas stanchions have a special coating on the inside. The vanilla's inner stanchions will not be smooth enough from the constant rubbing of the spring.

You could always use your lowers on you friends vanillas and have vanilla instead of a talas.
