I was looking at an '06 Epic as a 75% Trail, 25% race bike. I have a Racer-X 80mmm for a dedicated race bike and a Turner Burner(4in.) trail, which I'm going to sell. I have had to race the Turner several times when I had component related issues with the Titus. Is the 100mm now on the Epic make it a worthy trail as well as race bike? Is the Stumpjumper Expert a better choice for a Trail/Race Bike?

I've ridden the 80mm Racer-X and early Epic. The X felt muchmore plush in comparison with the early Epic. The slightly longer travel new Epic probaly would feel much like the 80mm X set up, but the new Epic's auto lockout would be better for racing than the X. The Burner would still feel more plush and handle difficult terrain better than the new Epic, and its a better rough trail bike than the Racer-X. Keep the Burner, buy the Epic for a better race bike, sell that Racer-X. Although the Racer-X is a great do all bike and the best looking of the bunch (Keep the Racer-X as a single speed trainer?).
