looking at a used Talas 36 on Ebay, looks like the steerer tube has been cut to 8", I have no idea what the length is on my 05 Reign 3. This is for a 20" frame, stock bike, out of town so I can't measure and don't want to rely on wife to do it. Any help?

8" is plenty. Mine is 7.75ish with two 1" spacers (my frame is a 2005, L)

That's strange.
I have 05 Reign 2 in 20" frame, and tube is cut to about 8.5" in my bike. I was looking for fork on Ebay but was afraid that will be too short. I think is all depends of your riding style but you shouldn't go to low. I just ordered Marzocchi 55 STS2 from Jenson for $325.
Hope that this one will work OK for me

thanks for the replies! I found a geometry chart on the 2005's, the headtube is 5.9 inches, I have two spacers as well but don' think they are an inch each, so 7.75 sounds about right.If its 8.5 you'll see a shock relisted soon
