I heard some things about the crown being weak. I think I am going to buy one used to go on a steelhead for light Fr (5' max drop) and trail riding. Also, if it breaks, will Rs replace it even though I bought it second hand? Theyre alot easier to come by than the other models and I can get one for a little less than $300 shipped.
Thanks
Jim

ebizzle
i don't know about their policy on second owners if the fork breaks but i would definetly go with one, seems like everyone loves them. i'm also getting one next month for a good price
the first run of forks had a casting flaw. it was fixed very quick. Id be surprised if you get a bad one. i bought my pike in march and it had the new casting. Their warranty time is amazing too
going on a steelhead?

What about going for the steel steer tube version? much stronger.

Thats what I plan to put on the imperial here shortly. i hope it comes soon, been waiting patiently on the arrival.
Either my post was deleted, or MTBR went down when I posted it... Hmmm...
I pointed out the casting flaw and the great response time from Rockshox.
I got my Pike SL new for 250.

How much do you weigh?

You could do Jaw drop on it if you weighed under 50lbs.

You could snap it on a curb if you weigh 500lbs.

Get a Race or SL if you can.
I've been riding an '05 Pike Team for about 5 months now and would buy another in a heartbeat - I really like the fork and have had no issues with it whatsoever. This is after swearing (prior to SRAM's purchase of RS) that I would never again ride RS after blowing both front and rear RS products 4 months out of the box.

RockShox has their sh1t together now - give them a shot you won't regret it.

FWIW - I weighed 194# as of last week, and am pretty hard on stuff.

I liked the fork so much I bought TWO. Then this happened.
Maybe it was one of the casting flaws. RS is fixing it.....still waiting for it to come back.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I only weigh 162lbs so if it can take you it can take me im guessing.
So this fork on ebay only had 1 day left and i didnt want to take the chance of coming back and having it be gone so i got it last night. With an ebay coupon and a good deal i got it for $270 shipped. Im pretty happy about it.

-good deal, I got a black one. Have about 10 or so rides on it now and there is a creaking noise heard when standing and hammering or stressing the front end hard on climbs. Not sure if its the crown yet or not but I thought I read a while back that this was happening to others. Could be the stem or bars or whatever, not sure yet.

Its a great fork, love mine!
Isn't the Team the weaker version? That isn't recommended for more extreme applications?

270 shipped is a good deal, after shipping and all that, that's about how much I paid for my Pike SL.
