What is the difference between these two Rock Shox forks? Are they virtually the same? (travel and etc.)

I have been eyeballing a 454 AIR U-TURN (pricey), however, I can get a new 05 PIKE TEAM AIR for $300.00 at the moment. What should I do?

I ride a Giant VT. I have a Minute 1 on it. The plan would be to put the PIKE on the VT and take off the Minute. Then, next season, ditch the VT in favor of a 5 Spot and put the PIKE on that bike. I have Hope Pro II Hubs that can convert to 20mm thru axle. Any problems with my plan?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

I owne the 454 air u-turn, and have spent good time on the pike team air. No performance difference. If there is another new 05 Team Air for $300 I'd buy it.

Missed out on the deal - someone else bought it. Thanks anyway Westin!

I'll have to keep my eyes out for another deal like that.

Would it be possible to reduce the travel on the non uturn pike air by incresing the neg. air pressure? Would this alter the spring rate in a bad way? I am looking for a sturdy 5 inch fork for my sc blur classic as the warranty forbidding me to do so has expired...

The fork comes supplied with a 10mm travel spacer. But yes, you can pump up the negative to drop the travel. I ran my dual air Pike between 130 and 135mm, no problems. DGC reports that if you reduce the travel by a significant amount, like 30mm, then the ride quality suffers.
