05 Jamis XLT VS Specialized Stumpy FSR

Hey guys Im in a dilema here. I need some advice on whether to purchase an 05 Jamis XLT anniversary editon or save up some money and get an 05 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR. I am switching to a fully suspended bike due to back problems. I ride in Southern Louisiana and I will be venturing out to either California or Colorado after I graduate college. I need a bike that is fast and can take a beating from a 200+lb rider. I plan on doing a few duatholons and some adventure races. I love the stumpy but its only the price tag that hinders me from purchasing it. The Jamis XLT is a great all aroung rig for the price, but it is a bit on the heavy side. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
