Has anybody replaced their 2005 Coiler Dee-Lux for with another 160mm and found it just doesn't feel right? Has anybody replaced the original for with a 180mm fork to keep the a-c similar to the original 66VF and found it good?

I gouged the stanchion on the 66VF and replaced it with a 2010 55RV since it is supposed to be a functionally similar fork (and it seems to be). The only problem is that the bike feels like it wants to "drop" into a corner instead of gently carving through with a intuitive lean.

Edit: For reference the 2005 66VF 150mm was 572mm a-c. The 2010 55RV 160mm is 549mm a-c. A current 180mm for is about 565-568mm for a-c.

I have an 06 66 VF2 170mm fork that would get you back to what your used to if you want?

Thanks for the offer Bordershy. But alas, the fork you have is 555mm a-c. Only 6mm longer than my current and 17mm shy of the original.

Your right it is 555mm a-c. I was thinking the 05 150's were the same a-c as the 06 170's.

It's a great fork with no issues & would give you 20mm more travel, but can understand if your used to a really tall front end.


Maybe a 180 fork will work on that frame, but maybe 170F/150R would be better long term?

You can put a 200X57mm shock on the 05-06 frames & get 170 if i remember correctly.
