05 575: rp3 rebuild or rp23?

I've got an 05 575 with the original rp3 on it. The shock works fine for me, but I'm thinking about either rebuilding it (Pushed) or replacing it with an rp23. Any thoughts?

Another question I have is about the size. I'm probably just confused, but from the searches that I've done, people use either a 7.875" x 2.0" or 7.875" x 2.5" shock. Which one is "correct"? Thanks in advance.

I'll go with the rebuild. RP3 works great on the old model and has 3 positions on trail+ get a custom tune:thumbsup: .
Stock RP23 tuning did not get too many praises here as I recall.
My old 575 had the RP3 and RRB's had an RP23. The RP3 was easier to live with (sometimes, the less tuning options, the better it is)...
thanks. Your input definitely helped.
I have an 07 575 with an RP23. Had it Pushed recently, which made a noticeable improvement in ride quality. In hindsight, the multiple settings of RP23 were pretty useless- I rode either with platform turned off completely or on the strongest setting for climbing roads. Even the 1 setting on the RP23 led to a noticeably harsher ride so I stopped using it.

Based on this, I'd suggest just getting the RP3 Pushed.
I need to either rebuild or replace my RP3 on my 575 (propedal lever just spins 360 without changing damping & leaks oil when doing it). I found a few RP3's on ebay, but they're all 7.87 X 2.25, where the current RP3 is 7.87 X 2.0. Can I go with the 2.25 travel instead? How would that affect the ride? Thanks guys.
Do a custom tune PUSH mod. It will be half the price of a new rp23 and will work great with that bike. Better imo than a new RP. Just be sure to call and talk to them for tuning advice rather than relying only on the online form. They may recommend the 'big hit kit' which will reduce the air chamber volume and up the progressive-ness of the shock. If you are a bigger guy or like to do some drops that's a nice addition for the 575.

EDIT: Just realized this thread is a month old.

To the poster above me. It's a 7.875x2.0. Never heard of anyone running a 2.25. Seems like the tire could hit the seatpost. It's always been a 2.0 for the 575.
thanks eatdrinkride. I'll keep looking for the 7.875 x 2, or rebuild if I can't find one on ebay or via forums. cheers!
re: rebuilding the RP3: as mentioned in the original post, the propedal lever just spins around & around and leaks oil during the spin. can this be fixed w/ a rebuild? or do I need a new shox? thanx.
The stock rebuild kit (basically just new seals) will not help you with the propedal lever leaking oil. if I remember correctly, my RP3 also just spun around so I don't think that itself is unusual. You may have to return to Fox or send to Push (or other shock shop) to get the leak around the propedal lever fixed (although I've seen some folks go the DIY route)...
