i have a 01 fox vanilla r on my big hit that diddn't make any noise until i bailed on dirt merchant and broke my boxxer crown and various other parts... anyways it is making this weird sucking sound now coming back into position after it is compressed. I took the shock off the bike today and took the coil off and cleaned the piston off with a rag and it made no difference. What should I do/ how can i fix this?

If its like a squelching noise, you have some how got air in the oil
Damping will now be inconsistant as the piston will be going from air into oil
When you bailed the bike, the shock probably caused some nitro to burp past the IFP o-ring into the oil/piston chamber
You will likey have to send the shock back to fox to get it rebuilt as its old, or, take the chance to upgrade it to someing more modern

You can get DHX3/4/5 pretty cheap now as they are being replaced by the DHX RC4 for 2010 and beyond
