  1. Downhill - Freeride
I just got back from a 5 day trip to Killington Bike Park with my son. I'm 43, certainly not old, but I'm not 20 anymore so it takes a little longer to recover despite being in pretty decent shape for my age. I started riding bike parks 3 years ago, and this year since I have my own FS, I went...
  2. Rider Down, injuries and recovery
So I've heard a helmet is good for one crash then needs to be replaced. I have a full face TLD D3 Fiberlite and took a nice spill OTB on a 10ft jump at Mountain Creek Bike Park. Appears the impact and only damage is to the visor, so I'm just wondering if it's necessary to replace. Thx!
  3. Clydesdales/Tall Riders
I've been on here years and learned so much and decided I would pass on some of that knowledge on. I started a Clydesdale rider YouTube channel. With my rides and experiences as a large rider. Never did YouTube before not trying to get rich but hoping to make something people enjoy watching so...

When the injury happens, get the proper care. Avoid the crash: It's springtime, the ramp-up to riding season and excitement is in the air. It's also the most dangerous time for injury as the trails have changed and the body and mind are not quite in peak-season form to avoid the dangerous...

Rider Oscar Ricketts bravely submitted his footage of a gap gone terribly wrong. I'll be the first to admit I don't regularly watch crash videos. There's something comforting about not knowing how badly things can go while riding. When you approach a notoriously sketchy section of trail, you...

Most experienced cyclists know the best way to cross a railroad is at a 90 degree angle, but this advice doesn't always work . Take this railroad crossing in Knoxville, Tennessee for instance. Located next to a heavily trafficked road, crossing the track at a 90 would put you directly in the...

Crashing is part of our sport but these unplanned get-offs should be the exception rather than the norm. Our friends from GMBN have some good tips but we have some very useful suggestions to add. Here are the five basic tips to stay upright. 1. Drops and going over the bars Leaning too far...

As mountain bikers, we tend to make fun of roadies. All they do is suffer and eat (at least that's the stereotype). But in a lot of ways, roadies are bad ass. Unlike soccer players who feign injuries at the slightest impact, pro road racers have fallen off bridges, hopped back on their bikes...

Ever wonder why bmx kids seem to fall out of the sky and walk away unharmed? It's because they've crashed many times before and have learned to control the situation. Us mountain bikers can learn a lot from them and improve our chances during a fall. Innocent tumbles can sometimes lead to very...

As Nicholi tried to scrub speed before the biggest drop in his run, his front wheel washed out, sending him into a head first free fall down a 75 foot cliff (click to enlarge). The crash that everyone fears in Red Bull Rampage, falling off a cliff, happened yesterday to Nicholi Rogatkin. In a...

We posted a photo from this jump on our Facebook page a couple days ago, but didn't exactly know what happened. We now know total suckage happened, but we still don't know exactly how or why. Just a friendly reminder to check all your bolts and adjustments regularly and to take an extra-close...

Updated: Jan 18, 2014 by Francis Cebedo Most mountain bikers are wondering what kind of bike Matt Damon was riding at the time of the accident. With some research, we noticed that Matt was spotted riding a 2014 Felt Nine 2 on December, 2013. This is most likely the bike he was riding the time...

So I ride a weekly race series which has always been fun. I ride Sport category and have been doing pretty well this year. This past week though, the worst thing happened. We were all lined up on the start line when this guy comes late and decides to throw his bike on the front of the line...

I know that Mtbr is everyone's favorite mountain biking website. But there's this other site called YouTube that is pretty popular, too. If you're like us, you enjoy spending some time watching cool mountain biking videos as much as the next guy. But the problem is...there are TONS of videos...

  20. External Exfixiator

I'm not sure how that's really spelled, but you DON'T want one of these puppies!! It was bolted directly to the bones for two months. After a couple of surgeries that whole joint is now metal and there are a few straps on the ulna and radial bones, the x-ray kinda looks like an erecture set.
