These wheels are a bargain. They have been riden for almost 2 yrs from cross country to epic rides. We ride fun trails that are challenging with rocks, ruts & creek crossings. The rims do not leak, and of course they have Stans in them for puncture resistance. I have not had to tighten spokes yet, there snug. They may be heavier then other rims, but I prefer a stronger rim to hold up against abuse. Bottomline, so far everything is holding up, hubs, rims & spokes.

Strength:

XT/XTR looks and performance without the associated price tag. Fully UST compatible without needing rim tape or rim-strip voodoo. Comes with tubless valves. Straight-pull spokes for extra strength(no j-bends). Only 24 double-butted spokes per wheel for light weight. Scratch-resistant finish. Easy to maintain loose-bearings(as long as you have the proper tools).

Weakness:

Replacement straight pull spokes may be harder to find than the traditional spokes. Not as light as custom-build or botique lightweight XC wheelsests. Loose hub bearings(not sealed type)will need regular maintenance- specially if they get wet often through river crossings or rides in the rain or very wet bike washings.

Incredible value for money. I ran mine with tubes for a few weeks before going tubeless with Geax GATO TNT and Stans sealant. I love the UST rim design, tires beads are held very securely in a deep tight groove and it takes a bit of muscle and/or tire-lever english to de-mount tires. They sealed up without a hitch and have never burped air even at pressures as low as 20psi during high speed rock-garden descents and low-speed off-camber technical sections.

I've read reports of early failures of other Shimano hubs but came to the conclusion that they were probably due to improperly maintained hubs or their cone washers(retaining the ball bearings) were either too loose or too tight. Grease your hubs and check your retaining nut tension regularly and these should last you a very long time.

Don't be misled by their weight that seems to be on the heavy side compared to other more expensive wheelsets. The majority of said weight is concentrated at the hub due to the large steel bearings. The low-spoke count means that the actual rotational mass is quite low. Remember, this is it's weight as a TUBLESS-READY rim. You'll have to add the weight of rim tape and/or rubber rim strips to those so-called lightweight rims to get similar tubless performance- narrowing the weight difference somewhat.

Weakness:

may be too heavy (change QR's!)

they roll, they spin forever! The same rim and spokes as XT wheelset, but older hubs. Natural UST without rimstrips and other magic. You can use whithout sealant your ust tires.
Nice and quality grafic on rims. Hubs without decals.
Nice wheelset for training and may be for racing if your ride technic is not so good.

I am a weekend warrior who fell in love with this product the first time i laid my eyes on it. its not as good looking as cobalt wheel sets but it can turn heads.I've tried it on some dirt trails and both wheels are performing as expected. I strongly recommend it for those guys who love trail riding, its purely style and function. keep on riding
