Strength:

Cheap, light, durable.

Weakness:

None.

I agree with the last review and, basically, can't believe how good these wheels are for the money. Bummer PP doesn't sell them anymore but, perhaps, they are just out of stock. I didn't weigh these and wonder if they aren't really the 1900gm advertised because they are crazy strong. Okay, they're a little flexy and feel light so not for hucking but that ain't my thing anyway. But I've put a few thousand often very rocky singletrack miles on them and they are still true. I'm not a hard rider but also not slow. I've broken frames and bent wheels. After every epic ride I expect something to go wrong with these but they just keep rolling. And they even look good. Crazy.

Strength:

Price + Weight... They are flexie, but stable. I had them trued up after 9mo, which is about normal for any wheel I have ridden. Lighter and cheaper than the other sub-$250 wheelsets.

Weakness:

The rim width is a bit narrow, so you have to run a bit more pressure to keep fat tires from rolling. These are flexie, which is fine for XC riding and excellent for commuting. However, I would not recommend these for anything more intense than XC. Get a 32-spoke wheel.

Not that long ago, spending $600 on a wheelset for a 26" MTB meant you were getting some light, high-end wheels. Seems like today, $500 is the mid-range, which is too bad. As long as you service your hubs, true your wheels and replace spokes, only a bad fall / crash is a reason to replace a wheel.

NOTE: These Maddux wheels are no longer listed on PricePoint.

If you can snag a pair used for $100, go for it. They are well worth it. Just don't go flying off a loading dock with them and expect all to ve ok. Commuters and gravel-grinders... you will love these things. XC folks... they work just fine.
