Bontrager SE4 Team Issue Tire

DESCRIPTION

Technical trails and enduro racing are your passion. Downhill tires are too bulky and XC tires are too wimpy. Enter the new SE4 Team Issue tire. The casing is plenty tough for DH riding, with Core Strength protection for cut and puncture sidewall reinforcement and fracture resistant sub-tread. A grippy compound digs in while cornering, with plenty of knobs to fly through the gnar.

Strength:

Real 2.6. Easy to set up tubeless. Good grip in climbings. Managed to climb some tecnical parts I normaly finds quite difficult. Safe and smooth downhill.

Weakness:

So far none, but guess there is better tyres for deep mud.

Strength:

grip, durability, predictability

Weakness:

rolling resistance

I went from a pair of Hans Dampf Trailstar tyres to these a few months back. The SE4 doesn't have the same grip level on wet roots and has higher rolling resistance, but on dry ground has similar grip and even better confidence-inspiring predictability. They are wearing better than the Schwalbes as well. I had to drop about 3 psi to retain the same riding feel.
All in all, I like them a lot.

Strength:

Great traction and sturdy feel on the DH.

Weakness:

Heavy and slow roller, pricey for the weight factor.

One of the best DH tires I've ridden other than the FR3 (wish they still made them) outstanding traction and grip. You can run them low and still not get side wall fold or mush, the stiff side wall gives it a sturdy feel, but still soaks up the rocks. The down side is they are heavy and slow rollers. I have a 1x11 gear set and these tires bog it down and make you work harder. So just make sure all your buddies run these tire too so you don't get dropped. If these tires rolled better, they would be the best on the market.

Strength:

These tires are very tough and grip very well. I ride tons of rock and have not gotten one flat or tear in the sidewall with these. Front tire has worn very well and the rear is grippy yet rolls well on hardpack.

Weakness:

Perhaps on the heavier side but worth it.

Ready to buy another set! These tires are worth it so far.
