When it comes to cranks, I think that you just want some that are pretty light and stiff and that don't crack or bend. People who are complaining about creaking..well...any crank will creak if you don't clean the bbracket spindle where the crank arm attaches. You need to clean that, maybe a lil' sandpaper, when it starts to creak! That's all!

These cranks are completely dominant!

Weakness:

These are anything but weak!

After upgrading pretty much every piece of my bike, I finally got a set of RaceFace cranks, and looked back and wished that they were the first upgrade that I got. What a difference these made of the cranks that came with the bike. No flex, and they just feel super strong, you pedal, and the bike responds. I love these cranks and will buy a set for any new bike I ever own. Oh yeah, I weigh in at 260 lbs., and with all my weight on them for a couple of years, these things are still SOLID!!

Finally, boutique aftermarket cranks that live up to the hype(and have a comprehensive warranty to prove it).I use mine on my singlespeed. They are good-looking(red),well-made,and probably the stiffest crank I have ever come across.Even my square-taper models are stiffer than my splined Shimano XT crank, which is saying a lot.The ability to run standard-size rings(not the crappy "micro-drive" rings)is another bonus.

Weakness:

Price.$120 is hefty money for a set of crankarms. You could easily buy an XT crank PLUS rings for equivalent money.
They are slightly heavier than Shimano, which really isn't a big deal, and you don't ever notice it when you ride.

These are great cranks--strong,stiff,and come in a beautiful range of colors. You could say that Raceface cranks are for people who are normally leery of boutique cranks. They are backed by a strong warranty, and they definitely feel stronger than a Shimano crank, even though my XT Hollowtech on my geared bike is hardly a pushover.
The price is a little out there, but considering all the discounts you can get at mail-order stores I'd say they're worth the extra cash.If the new ISIS system lives up to its promise(my friend just installed a set of ISIS Truvativ Stylos on his bike),then I can definitely say they're a viable Shimano alternative.I wouldn't know anything about the shifting performance, however, although the general consensus for the standard-size R.F rings seems to be favorable.

Strength:

The cranks are super stiff, especially when combined with
race face bottom bracket... very light weight... and color

Weakness:

give them time and they will bend... I am not an extreme rider and weigh 155 pounds. the shifting is terrible... and the chain rings are pricy.

Overall a good deal if you can afford to replace them often. When it comes time to send anything back to Race Face don't expect them to be very understanding. i have I system stem, RF taperlock BB, and a set of LP cranks that are bent enough for the chain to slip off the front. If you are looking for a super stiff set of cranks that shifts well buy shimano, if you just want stiffness buy RF.

Super stiff and durable.

Lifetime warranty

Weakness:

None

I've had these things since 98, and other than a little paint rubbing off from where my shoes rub, they are like brand new. I weigh over 200 pounds and abuse the crap out these cranks. For all of you Shimano weenies who think XTRs are more durable and stiffer, just take a look at the Northshore riders, you don't see them riding Shimano cranks.

Plus you really can't beat the lifetime warranty.

Strength:

Strong, stiff, light

Weakness:

chainrings, stripped bolt hole

Great crank arms, stiff and strong, still going strong after over four years under a 200lb rider in extreme conditions. Stripped one of the bolt holes early on and just stuck some locktite on it and no worries. Rings on the other hand have not been so good. Heavy and soft. Lots of chain suck at first. Mediocre shifting until well worn in. Can't fault the arms though.

To be honest I bought these cuz they look so friggen cool. Also being that I weigh 235 I needed a strong crank. So far no strenght issues

Only issue was that it creaked every 2nd time out. The manual says to grease them before installing them on to the BB, my LBS suggested not to. So I did grease them, tightened them up, and now no more issues.

Looks cool.
Install it and forget it.
Bombproof!!!!

Weakness:

it doesn't install itself.

These things rock.

If you are having trouble keeping bolts tight, with rounding out, or other install issues, drop the wrench and slowly back away from the bike. Take it to a shop that knows what they are doing. if they have the same problem, they don't know what they are doing!!!

What more do you want? You install the thing, and it works... forever. Installing is literally a no-brainer!

If you are shopping for cranks, and you really know how to use tools (not just think you do), you can't get a better crank for sub downhill riding.

These are excellent cranks. Stiff, light, beautiful workmanship, the best. But their rings suck! Use Shimano and you will have no problems with shifting to the middle ring. The quality is great and so is the warranty. These cranks rule
