Strength:

Titanium!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ride of the chosen. Very light. Winter salt unaffected. Perfect year around companion, commuter. First choice over steel, carbon ride.

Weakness:

Pricey no matter what mfgr produces it - nature of the metal.

Steel is really a great ride and i did for years with no front suspension. Carbon has well proven itself. (Giant Xtc1 or Scott Scale 10) But as strong and resilient as ti is (and great unpainted too) it gives you the ride of the others at the same weight savings and you can run the narrow rear tires for acceleration and still have a cushy ride on rough terrain. At 19lbs it is a crotch rocket climber and still descends with a good fork and control tire to match. V brakes stop so-o well if set up properly. Almost disc quality except for really sloppy weather.

Specialized stumpjumper s works for years, Miyata team steel bicycle triple butted. Ti crossbike rocks also!!
