The frame and bike is good it handles dh great and u can do some pretty insane stuff on it. if i had 4000 pounds in my hand i would walk strate up to the orange dealership.

Weakness:

Had a problem with the swingin arm. went down a rock section and herd a massive snaping sound and craking sound from the back back wheel locked up and. My mech had caught on a spoke lown into my rear wheel and wripped my swinging arm to shreds. If this bike is gunna be perfect needs a replacble dropout.

This bike is great but had the problems with it as explained. Needs nuthin else improven on it apart from a replacble deralier hanger.

Stiff, Solid, Light, Plush!!!

Weakness:

None so far!!

Bottom line is that this bike rocks!!! Simple design that does the job better than most 4 bar and other single pivot designs out there. The bike just wants to be riddin fast and aggressive!! Likes to be in the air as well!! Great jumping bike!! Super light race feel to it, and stable at very fast speeds!!
It is a sick DH bike!!!!!

Strength:

light, stiff, super plush, good adjustment, climbs well with lighter tyres

Weakness:

comes with to light a spring for my 14 stone mass

Bought this as an early birthday and it's changed my riding soo! much.
The range of adjustment is great going from super sharp for riding single track with you mates and maybe a little XC? (with way smaller tyre's than my usuall 2.7's) to way slack for those really steep run's.
The frames really beefy but not very heavy use's 2mm thick plate and tubing. Rear end travel is really sesitive due the big 32MM cartridge bearing pivots and the big swing arm and trough axle rear hub keeps thing nicely stiff. Using a 42 tooth ring means the rear end tightens up a lot under big power and also causes a bit more peddle feed back and chain stretch under commpression then when using a big ring but it makes it sprint with little in the way of bob. only comes in one size 15".

Strength:

This is a light bike, Nime weighs 40 lbs even. Nice short chainstays, low BB height, adjustable

Weakness:

has some pedal feedback from the suspension.

This is one of the best bikes I have owned. Because of the 5th Element, it pedals like a 3 in xc bike and only weighs a little more. If you want a DH race bike, you can't go wrong with this bike. Buy one if you get the chance, but I suggest building it by your specs, not just OEM specs.

Strength:

This bike is super plush and active, the rear end is stiff due to the through axle, and multiple bb heights and head tube angles are possible. This bike can be built into one of the lightest downhill bikes on the on the market with careful parts consideration and some money.

Weakness:

takes abit to set up suspension, but when you get it right, you'll know. Seat gets buzzed if you lower it to much.

This bike is the best bike I have ridin to date. The bike dirt jumps like no other and rails every turn like a freight train. Also Greg Minnarr and Steve Peat won the World Cup Series on it. The harder and faster you ride it the better it handles. I could say, it could be Dual Slalom raced on rougher courses. Well i am sold on this bike and will it will be hard to change my view on the Orange 222. This bike is designed for the DH racer who likes to push the limits, if you don't like pushing the bike beyond your ability this is not the bike for you. Hope this helps with your bike interests.

Any Questions just send me an e-mail, I'm open for questions.

P.S. I will write a new review when i put a 5th Element shock on the bike, they say it is supposed to make a big difference.

Strength:

very light-weight, small, agile, rear soaks up everything and keeps the rear wheel planted, it also pedals well enough to be ridden on normal cross-country trails

Weakness:

rear wheel buzzez on the seat sometimes

A stellar bike. If I had the money I would have paid the full price of the bike, but I found a deal so thats how the bike came into my hands. This is the most versitile downhill bike on the planet. I use it as a northshore freeride bike, a downhiller,a trailbike, and even a dirtjumper. Downhilling is what this bike is made for, and that is what it does best, but if thats all you use it for, you aren't using it to its full potential. I have found through this bike that simpler is better, and this bike shows this through its simple, yet perfectly tuned and refined single pivot suspension. I would recomend it to anyone as the ultimate downhill bike.

Strength:

Pedals like a demon, light, strong, agile, well spec'd.
Rails magnificently and accelerates like a mid travel bike.
I can use it on weekend trail rides and keep up with the 'budgie smugglers' on heavier hardtails and freeride rigs

Weakness:

(Only if being very picky) Seat buzzes on tyre if ran too low, but that is only before getting used to the bike and realising that due to the super low frame, you need the seat higher than you think anyway. Floating disc is a little rattlier than standard brake.
Rear wheel painfull to remove

Gotta love the bike. Not too expensive for the build quality and specs (even in Oz dollars). Not a single corner was cut (except for pedals, which, lets face it, we all put on our own favourites anyway).
I wouldn't pay the extra for a floating disc next time, but admittedly it does seem to do what it is surposed to.
(hasn't hindered Global crew without it)
Can't wait till I can afford a Patriot. Than I can sell off all my other junk. With those 2 bikes you will never need another bike (unless you are a XC budgie smuggler)
If the '03 222 comes with a 5th element shock option, 'perfect' will become 'perfecter'.

Strength:

Solid frame with little noticable flex, very sensitive pivet with endless travel, great support/warrenty

Weakness:

When the shock is a full compression if the saddle is slighlty too low the rear tyre scuffs the saddle

The best downhill bike out there. A perfect balance between strength, weight and travel.

Bottom Line

The DH World Cup was won on one of these last season and will be won on one this season - Nuff Said
