Endura MT500 Spray Baggy Shorts

DESCRIPTION

Even the hardest-nosed riders out there don't exactly enjoy coming home soaked to the skin with a wet bum. Sure, there are plastic waterproof over-pants and shorts available, but they can be a bit stifling. The Endura MT500 Spray Baggy Shorts are designed to cover all your wet-condition-needs while still looking very much like hip and happening, hardcore mountain bike shorts. The key is in their specially designed seam-sealed, waterproof three-layer fabric panels in the rear which have been combined with stretchable Cordura nylon to keep them lightweight and breathable while adding the necessary protection against the wetness of a soggy mountain trail or rain soaked road. They've included a similarly waterproofed crotch panel which you will thank heaven for as soon as you sit down again after a hard slosh through long puddles while standing out of the saddle. The front of the shorts haven't been neglected either since they've been designed with a four-way lightweight stretch Cordura nylon. It will also shed the mud and muck that may get kicked up from your front tire or from your buddy riding in front of you. Don't think for a moment that all this waterproofing fabric will in any way hamper the expected comfy baggie shorts fit. Endura has been certain to preclude any such eventuality by incorporating a rear stretch panel in the shorts to ensure that you'll never feel them tug when hammering up a climb. Zippered thigh vents with sprung pullers will increase your options for just how roomy you want the shorts to be. Similarly, integral jacquard stretch adjusters have been included around the waist so you'll be able to fiddle with the fit even as you are in the middle of a four hour ride. The Endura MT500 Spray Baggy Shorts are available in Black and in five sizes from Small through XX-Large. Please Note: These shorts run nearly a full size small -- if you normally wear a Medium in another brand, then select a Large in the MT500.

Strength:

I found the fit good and the short comfortable to wear with or without knee guards. Zip pockets and vents are welcome additions as is the integrated belt. I often ride in wet muddy conditions and keeping a dry backside is a priority which the shorts did for several months.

Weakness:

After only 6 months of light use the seam tape is starting to come away from the seams in many areas allowing water ingress. The shorts are always washed at 30 deg using Nikwax Tech Wash, no conditioner and dried naturally. Not impressed with the durability of the short in such as short space of time and have returned them for warranty inspection via the LBS. No word back from Endura so far.

Whilst not the cheapest option I bought the Endura marketing about durability but clearly this product didn't live up to their claims. I've also been using Gore Bike Wear items over the same period and this is still as good as new.

Strength:

Lightweight yet strong
Pretty good fit
Water repellent

Weakness:

A little long for my taste.

Prefer my Singletracks because of the cut. These are lighter and I would wear them more often if they legs were cut above my knees rather than just below. I guess some guys prefer a longer cut. BTW, these are a Large and I'm 6'1". Oh, and the Clickfast liner attachment system is better than most other, but still useless.
