Strength:

Light weight

Weakness:

Poor cleat retention, no pedal wrench flats

Built a new bike recently, chose all top-notch components including Time MX-8’s. It’s not often I rate a product so low, especially since I’ve happily been on Time pedals of one model or another for over a decade now. But these proved to exhibit disturbingly low cleat retention right away, very unlike all of the other Times I’ve used. After my foot slipped off the pedal a third time, I shelved them, basically throwing over $250 out the window. My foot would always slip out under the worst of conditions (wet, muddy, technical downhills) and at the worst times (right as I popped off a jump on one occasion). Rather than risk injury, I just went back to my trusty-but-weightier ATAC Z’s. Bummer about the MX 8’s, I expected typically reliable Time performance, but got a very dangerous and unusable product instead.
