Strength:

When it shifted it was OK, but nothing special.

Weakness:

Dog of a derailleur. Somewhat flimsy, a lot a plastic even in the tension nut, and it died of the broken B-tension plate flimsy design flaw. (like many srams) https://nsmb.com/forum/forum/gear-4/topic/broken-sram-derailleur-1995/

Came on a bike i bought for parts. Shifted great on my old early 90's rockhopper, havnt had time to zero it in on the "new" GT, but shiftin threw most of gears with out adjustment

Weakness:

Nothing so far I bang it around its still holdin up

Its been workin great so far no real problems, had to adjust after awhile but I think it was just from the cable streetching out.

Strength:

Easy to tune. OK if free. That's about all.

Weakness:

FLIMSY, FLIMSY, FLIMSY.

Came on an Iron Horse I bought to trash around on when I first was really getting into biking. It was also the first time I bought clipless pedals. Anyone that rides with clipless already knows where I'm going with this. I fell over the first time I tried them (my buddy said "try to just balance in one spot, it's super easy when riding clipless!). I was in a gravel parking lot at the bike trails and when I hit the ground it bent, still rideable but bad shifting after that. It also took a huge chunk out of the top of it. Not moving, no jumping, just fell on my side, bent and chunked. If I had paid for it, I woulda been pissed. (Can ride clipless great now.)

Strength:

Long cage with stands Routes, sticks and wire(when it got stuck in mine).

Weakness:

Spring loosens slightly after about about 4-6 months use but still shifts fine

For all those who ride Cross Country Tracks such as Yellowmundee this personally is the derailer for you,it is extremely sturdy for the way I used it and the price I spent on it, I have never had any major problems but the occasional tune is needed. It shifts perfectly once tuned to perfection.Obviously there are better products but that is when you would start to need to spend big. It is a great derailer for its value and would recommend it anyone riding cross country tracks.

it has pretty good shifting

Weakness:

whole cage

dont buy this unless your just gonna do daily commute to friends house or work, school. just did small small jumps and bunny hops over curb and then the whole derailleur gave out hit 2 spokes bend them, the derailleur bent outwards so far its not even possible to fix yes outwards not into the spoke but outwards

if your a mountian biker who does dirt jumps or just over small roots dont buy this x-9 will do the work

Strength:

shifts quite good but not good enough

Weakness:

flimsy, easily bends/scratches, isn't that good at all

it will snap in half after 2 feet jumps but mine snaped on a 1foot jump and got caught on rim and bye bye rim cuss it toore of like 3 spokes and snaped my chain. So no more bike riding that summer!

Takes NO hits.

this is probably the crappiest derailleur out there. i like to do jumps 2 - 3 meters high and race cross country and every time i jump it breaks and i cant do xc because it wont hold the race. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING ONE UNLESS YOU WANT TO TAKE IT IN TO GET FIXED EVERY TIME U RIDE!!!!!!!!

Strength:

worked very well for a while

Weakness:

cant take any hits

starting from the time i did two sub-3 ft drops down to concrete it started skipping and screwing up. even if you dont do anything major and just ride and do a few small jumps then it will screw up anyway. i was going down a little hill, over some grass, and then off a curb kind of fast but not really and without doing any jumps and when i tried pedaling again the derailleur snapped at the very top for no reason at all. it was really stupid and i really wouldnt recommend it to anyone who will do any jumps or go over bumps

Strength:

pretty average, looked like a strong deraileur

Weakness:

Snapped while doing jump (60cm jump) . Completly mangled, ended up breaking deraileur hanger into bits, bent frame and bent cassette chain rings.

Dont buy this product! Its worth it just to go buy some like sramx9's for just a bit more.
