Strength:

Light, Strong, really loving that shadow design

Weakness:

Needs adjusting quite often

This thing rocks! You can go with this everywhere, any weather or track. Only have once had an adjust problem on the trail, but was easily fixable there, so no worries got to keep on riding. Also if covered fully in mud and then also through a sandy beach (that's what I did), still shifted as new! Never let me down and if you can, certainly get with the new Clutch system.

Strength:

Tucked in a lot better than previous versions

Weakness:

Still hangs off the back of the bike begging to be ripped off

First the 10 spd derailleurs are not designed to be used with a 9 spd cassettes or chains. They are too narrow for that.

Shimano did a great job with the 10 spd XT group. It shifts spot on and it's very crisp. It takes a little bit to setup and doesn't do so well once the cable starts to loosen and stretch. But that's the price of the closer gear cluster. If you're going to run a 1x10 you really have to do some research on the best tooth count front sprocket to run. The 10 spd allows for much closer gear ratios. So if you ride a lot where it's flat and faster to tight technical turns and then right back to fast you'll be shifting constantly. I'm running a 32 currently and I've never shifted so much in my life.

Strength:

weight, shadow rd, looks

Weakness:

compatibility issue with a 9spd drive train

crisp and smooth shifting. it has a different feel while shifting compared to the old XT rd.

it sucks to replace a 9spd rd with a 10spd one. don't use a 10spd RD with a 9spd drive train.
