Strength:

Excellent power and plenty of modulation

Weakness:

I haven't nailed it down exactly but Shimano pads seem to foul when left for long periods of time without use. This may just be me not using a specific bike for a while and may happen to all brands of pads, but I don't really know because once I rode a Shimano brakes I binned every other brand on every brake I owned. Right now I have 6 sets of brakes on different bikes and the bike that I ride most frequently, have the most powerful brakes. dunno

I have seen reports of insufficient modulation, but I personally feel they are very predictable. With Shimano brakes, power is sufficient for 1 finger braking for each model's respective discipline.
