simple fix for crappy oem brake pads on canti's. replacement cartridges for 8 bucks. no squeal, good bite.

Weakness:

none so far

anything would be better than what i was using. these are quiet, no chatter and have good bite. the other option i was thinking about was the two compound mtb pad from kool-stop, but this was available at the lbs so there you go.

Strength:

Great stopping power. No squealing or chatter.

Weakness:

None found so far.

I've tried alot of different pads over the course of the last 6 months trying to find a pad that doesn't squeal. I've tried the usual toe-in, toe-out, no toe, with too many pads to mention. Finally, I found a brake pad that works perfectly with no squeal or chatter. These pads are awesome and worth every cent.

There is not much to say except that after trying everything under the sun, these are unbeleivable..period. There is nothing that even comes close to the stopping power. I have lived with brake squeal for years and not only are these super quiet, the stop like throwing our a 50# boat anchor.

Weakness:

None that I am aware of yet.

I can't say enough about the fact that after literally years of trying different brake pads these are not only the ones that do not make any noise, the stop like nothing else available. Some of the issue has been the Arch Supremes with the ceramic rims but I am using Kool Stop Green ceramic insert pads in each holder and the just work flawlessly. If you have had problems with poor braking and/or squealing of any kind with ceramic rims these are the ticket. The folks at Kool Stop get 5 stars for helping me solve the problem. They showed the interest to help and for that I am very appreciateive. They are wonderful people and make a great product.

These things can stop you on a dime and still allow for perfect modulation when braking. I replaced these with an older pair of pads and the difference is amazing.

Weakness:

The price is a little high, but if they hold out for an extended period of time, no big deal.

Great set of pads. If you are needing to upgrade, I would spend the extra money!

work as advertised

Weakness:

more expensive than your typical pad - but you have to pay for quality

These pads are great and work as they are advertised. The exceptional stopping power & modulation is noticeable in all environments. I have used these for many races, wet and dry and they are flaweless through both. KoolStop came out ahead again with a great product!

braking power, control, performance in wet or mud, no squeeling.

Weakness:

threading is sensitive to rust.

These are good pads. They provide good and controlled braking power while still being able to block the wheel. As for v-brakes, only a ceramic setup works better. Also, these pads work silently, no squeeling, even when wet. In three months, i haven't heard them once. Downside is that i have noticed that the threads develop a slight rust after riding in rain. The good news is that this can easily be solved by applying some oil or grease on the threads before installing. Besides that, these are the best pads i've used so far. However, the rusting threads will cost them one flamin' chili.

Works well in wet or dry. Great braking power.

Weakness:

Pad compound almost too fat. Effects tire removal.

Works really well. This pads really do work well and will dramatically improve your braking in both dry and wet conditions. For those of us still using V-brakes, these pads are a must.

The greatest brake pad ever! Better then damn near any disc brake on the market and a hell of a lot cheaper!

Weakness:

As before thick pads make for added trouble removing tire.

If these had come out years ago disc brakes might have never caught on. I've talked several friend out of buying disc equipted bikes in favor of V brakes that can be upgrated to these brake pads. Even when paired with cheap brakes these babies can sure stop a bike! The tripple compound is also great for Japan as gets pretty wet and humid around here. This product is just about the cheapest and most effective upgrade I've ever seen.
