Strength:

A good beginner bike. I didn't have the money to buy a more expensive bike. I recently kept up with friends on the San Juan Trail but I've made some modifications. Replaced front fork with Rockshock Toro, and rear shock with Marcozzi Air. These two mods made a drastic difference. Finally replaced rear derailer with Shimano XC. Shifts quick and strong now.

Weakness:

Poor component set. Rapid Fire Shifters are OK though. Front and rear suspension needs upgrading.

I don't regret buying the 550DS. It was the best I could do at the time and I just replaced items needed to upgrade as I got the money and I have had a blast in the process. I wouldn't pay more than $600.00 for it.
