Strength:

awesome bike light, fun and easy

Weakness:

i would say the suspension it seems far to soft and over any larger bump or drop bottoms out effortlessly this is REALLY annoying

so easy ridden for ages on it love it easy maintenance , some people dont like the brakes but i think they work perfectly well

Strength:

For the price its a good bike if you are willing to upgrade parts as they wear out. Solid bike.

Weakness:

Heavy bike, poor support from Marin since they were sold.

Marin has always made a solid bike, and this is another example. They cut a few corners on wheels and some other bits to make a price point but over all a good entry level bike. Only thing against them is a few warranty our shop has had with them over the years. More on that here: http://cycnut.com/index/loyalty.html
If you are an avid rider who needs a B bike this is a great option. If you are new to cycling and need something you will not out grow, this is a good start.

Strength:

A great component group, Deore and SLX and entry level Hayes disc brakes.

Weakness:

The Marzocchi fork is not bad but the lock out lever popped off quite easily though it did go back on. I'd rather see a Rock Shox fork but that comes down to preference. Also, because it is a bottom line fork, it has those V brake bosses on it.

A sweet looking bike, takes a beating on the trails pretty good, just as was intended. If you want to huck this thing off of cliffs etc, buy a bike designed for that.
Nothing feels cheap about it (except for that lock out lever on the fork) and compared to other brands with similar specs, this beauty cannot be beat, IMO anyways.
Overall, a great bike for someone who enjoys city trails and XC trails on the weekend. For the price and what you get, if you are looking for a new ride and a LBS carries Marin, add this one to the list of bikes to try.

Strength:

The bike seems pretty solid, fork is good enough for me, shifts cleanly and brakes while not 100% true work well (first set of discs), rest of components are definitely good enough for anyone besides an all out racer.

Weakness:

A bit heavy (has to be close to 30 although I do ride a 21.5"), would require lots of money to drop the weight, since everything overall is not the lightest and top of the line, although the components are not bad.

Overall, this bike is a great entry level mountain bike for whatever riding I will be doing (single track and trail). The bike is a bit heavy, which can be felt when constantly changing directions, climbing, etc., but of course the main thing holding it back is the rider. The hydroformed frame looks pretty awesome, that is for sure, and all in all the bike is a good well balanced package for the average weekend warrior not looking to empty his/her pockets on a sub 22 lb race bike (which I would consider buying if I did not sink all my money into my road bike).

Strength:

The only bike with a 11.5 seat tube. I don't think Marin makes one anymore thou. Within the first year, Marin contacted me and informed me of some problems with the welding. they immediately replaced it. Marin's been great about customer service.

Weakness:

A little heavy

Great bike for the price. I've been riding it for six years. It was my first MTB. And it's been through a lot. I finally got a FS but will probably not part with "Angel" that her name ;)
