Strength:

Virtually indestructible. I own this bike for two years. Bought it as a down hill spare since the price was nearly free. Took it to the trails and can't let it go. My other bike is now my wife's bike.

Weakness:

Replacement parts are really hard to find. I got me some different flavors of 24" tires just in case. Found a really nice schuable 24x 2.4 amazing. Kenda makes it and feels fine on paved trails. Maxxis has one and I hope it lests me another season. The front end you can pretty much customize whatever. The rear end has been a challenge. Although I found rice racing from the states and I will try getting a replacement for 26 or 27 " tires.

Strength:

tougher than woodpecker lips. fsr linkage has a special place in my lil heart. greatest design imho. 12 adjustable rear shock positions. big link is indestructible. easy to clean. looks good in my garage, better in yours. affordable replacement for rear derailleur dropout. the 24 in the rear is more sporty around tight corners. and you can stay low. get low. great whistler/soon to be stevens pass bike park/dh bike. its a durable frame. beefy. bike enjoys the scenery from any chairlift. modest yet aggressive. plays well with others.

Weakness:

they tryin to catch me ridin' dirty. been caught ridin' dirty a time or two. 24 rear wheel does not roll as fast as a 26, 29 or penny farthing. the ano silver is not as fast as red. everyone knows red is fastest. its humility is sometimes viewed as a weakness. sometimes gets jealous when in the company of a brooklyn machine works dh bike.

killer bike. top dog. will let you down(hill) without leaving you down(hearted).
this bike exceeded my range of skill level. i instantly was doing stuff on this bike i knew i shouldnt. bigger, faster ect. if you are maxed out skill wise on your current bike, i recommend the bighit expert. hands down.

Strength:

Great Geometry for steep slopes, lots of adjustments on geometry and suspension travel. Very Strong, second big hit I have owned and never damaged the frames. Quite smooth operation with all components Great overall riding bike. One of the best bikes for a beginner rider.

Weakness:

Geometry, bike is very slack and does not grip well with the front tire around tight turns. Pivot bearing do need to be replaced. 24" wheel, especially the original single track does not hold up. Better for shorter riders.

Great Beginner Downhill Bike! Can pick one up now for little $$$.

Strength:

Bullet-proof frame. Loads of adjustments for geometry and ride. Can go up hills.

Weakness:

Not all shock mounting positions are accessible. Seat-tube can hit the remote reservoir of the swinger 4-way.

It's a heavy beast! But it pedals really well thanks to the swinger 4-way. In fact it is more efficient at pedalling up hills than my previous free-ride machine, except that it is maybe 6 lbs heavier. I haven't decided on the value of the 24" rear wheel yet, but it does seem to make it considerably easier to pedal up hills and it corners really well. The whole bike is really stable in the air, compared to my previous bike. I like plushness, so I tend to run it in one of the 8.1" settings. The swinger 4-way seems like a really nice shock, just have to dial it in properly.

Just one minor complaint. The Hayes 8" rear seems too powerful compared to the XT front. It has virtually no modulation and so is taking me some time to get used to. In comparison, the XT front has heaps of modulation and more than enough power to stop the bike fast. I can possibly see a rear brake change coming. Other than that, I will probably try to lighten up the bike with maybe a carbon seat-post and no-tubes and maybe a Ti rear spring when I can afford it.

I'll up-date the DH performance when I have had time to set it up properly and get used to it.

Value, Plushness, Rear shock, Climbs as well as descends...
24" Rear Wheel...

Weakness:

24" Rear Wheel,Hayes Discs

I don't actually use this bike for DH so i've made a few modifications I fitted a 26" BETD conversion so I could run some lighter weight 26" tyres, Also fitted a 28" wide Truvative Hozzelfeller bar the 26" standard is just to narrow.
Now i've ended up with a bike thats about 38Lbs in weight (5-6 Lbs lighter than standard) and with the rear Manitou shock it doesn't bob and climbs remarkably well keeping the wheel weight down also aids the climbing and descending is still fantastic...
I love Downhilling but unfortunatly here we have to climb as well, this bike is bl00dy amazing, I also have a Spesh Enduro S-works and that rules as well but for shorter rides (sub 25 miles) and play days the big hit gets taken out...

Wicked downhill, Swinger 4-way, bulletproof frame and ultra strong everything, Junior T, value, 24 inch rear wheel

Weakness:

Slightly heavy, Junior T, No XL sizes for us bigger riders

This bike is heavy, but climbs beautifully and the rear end is as good as it gets on a dualie for bob-free riding. The Junior T is light, strong and stiff but lacks the climbability that the swinger provides. Its just so beautiful.....

'06 Bighit 3 - great stock components
- 26' wheels
- pedals like a 6' bike
- light weight - easy to throw around
- sweet suspension
- great brakes

Weakness:

Stock rear hub. After ripping ligaments in wrist after having it for 3 days, went for some light riding 3 weeks later and totally killed the hub. Where it is pressed together the 2 pieces parted company. Had to get a new one under waranty.

A great bike for racing, jumping and freeriding alike. The price is right and you get quality components. If your in the market for a new DH bike look no further than the Bighit 3 and you can take your riding to the next level. Keep riding.

Strength:

Awesome bike, looks great, and still getting people to turn there heads. Super supple suspension and beefy rim set.

Weakness:

Hayes Hydraulic disk brakes suck, they always pull all the way back to handle bars even after a fresh bleed, and they have no braking power, i'd rather have v-brakes!!! Hayes Hydros are BS. Seat post rails bent. rear derailer is lazy after it takes a beating.

Get the bike if you wanna huck/downhill/big dirt jump/go bigger than all yer friends. Don't get if ya wanna freeride, too heavy, it's a real pusher. Cool looking great soft ride, chicks dig it.
