Strength:

this bike is good i like it its not too bouncy and its preaty strong im a big guy 220lbs and this bike is sweet. everything about it.

Weakness:

IT ONLY HAS 3 INCHES OF TRAVEL IN THE BACK!!! would be nice if it had 4 but oh well its a cross X frame its still good.
AND IT DOES SQUEEK ALOT WHEN U RIDE INT HE RAIN GETS VERY ANOYING BUT ITS ONLY IN THE RAIN SO DONT WORRY ABOUT IT IF YOUR A PANZIE AND RIDE ON SUNNY DAYS ONLY

THIS BIKE IS SWEET IF U HAVE A CHANCE. TRY TO RIDE ONE SEE HOW U LIKE IT BUT ITS A GOOD BEGINERS BIKE.

Strength:

It´s a great bike because of it's price, and it comes with the rock shox deluxe shock
It´s very stiff and for a Cro-Mo bike, it´s very light

Weakness:

The chain when you jump it hits the bottom frame and the chain gets messed up

It´s a very good bike for all of the average or entry level bikers, who are not pros, but like the best for a great price

Strength:

Great suspension design, inexpensive

Weakness:

for the price, none. components suck except the Avid 20 single digits, it weighs 30.5 lbs, Front shock flex makes me shake in my boots. (Rock Shox Indy C)

For the money, buy this bike if you are not concerned about weight and ARE NOT SEROIUS ABOUT RACING or DO NOT RIDE HARD. Mainly, the componenets will not hold up. More expensive bikes costing $400-600+ more weigh about 3-6 pounds less with better componenetry. I have experienced very little creak in this bikes rear suspension. The bike is heavy (Cromoly) but absolutely fun to ride on all terrain and a great workout. I do not trust the fork though. It's the weakest thing on the bike. Months of riding and one 12 hour endurance race later the rims took the shape of eggs and the 21 speed drivetrain and crank were making an inefficient coversion of my pedal power. I have replaced the entire drivetrain with Shimano XT Mega 9 Drivetrain , XT hubs on Mavic 521 rims, Avid Archrival 50, Bontrager Crowbar. Bike now weighs 28.75 lbs and much stronger. Of course it's now $600 later. But, comparing the entire cost of the bike, I still have better components than a bike costing $1,300.00 For me, I like the way the bike fit me and this should always be your guiding light. Afterall, you'll be on it as you cross this roughed land called earth. Have fun.
1 star for cost, 1 star for design, 1 star for performance, 1 star for durability of bike overall, and 0 stars for componentry. GT seems to always go cheap on bike componenty unless the bike sells for $2,200. This may be the first and last GT I buy

Strength:

smooth to ride, cheap(the price is in aus dollars), long travel forks and it hasn't troubled me much. strong crank.

Weakness:

when the bearings get wet they squeak. I got an alivio front derailleur with it that the chain scrapes on 2/1 the rear derailleur has also been not going down(stx). no disc brakes.

the bike is genaraly a good bike. it could be so much better though with better components.

Weakness:

swingarm hits frame HARD , weak linkages, forks bend, shock blows, rear triangle bends, skweaky,

I've bent the forks, the rear triangle. iv cracked the shock mount in half, ive snapped a crank. whenever you bunnyhop and land hard the derallier goes into the rear wheel and bends the whole frame behind theaxle right aroud>>> ive wasted 4 deralliers and if i wasn't friends with the bike shop guys i would not be riding.. gonna get me a 2001 XTC ds2......
