Jamis Dakar 29er Full Suspension

DESCRIPTION

That XCR stands for cross-country race, and that’s not something we say lightly. When it comes to connecting the dots from the starting gate to the finishing chute, there’s simply nothing faster than our new Dakar XCR 29ers. Our all new fully-active, stable-under-power mp4 XC suspension design is optimized for cross-country performance, with travel narrowed down to a tautly sprung, hyper-efficient 100mm that delivers a slight rising leverage rate in the first 40% of travel and then is linear though the next 60mm of travel for a firm, responsive pedaling platform that keeps that rear tire firmly planted for pedaling efficiency and grip whether you’re forging ahead on a climb, or stretching your lead on a descent.

The Fox suspension is sweeeeeeeeet! Mine is a 2013 model with Fox fork and shock and it doesn't get much better. SLX brakes are awesome. Bike handles great in rocks and roots on the east coast trails. Climbs great with very little bobbing.

Weakness:

Geax Saguaro tires that came stock are no good for wet, rocky, rooty trails. Switched them out with Maxxis Ignitor EXO's and it made a world of difference.

If you ride/race on wet, rocky, rooty, trails this is the bike you want. With the Fox suspension, full XT components, and 28lbs, this is difinitely a contender. The Jamis Darkar line has always been rock solid and this one is no different.

Strength:

Bike is built like a tank. You have to ride it like a 29ner. That means that you have to pedal through and forget about picking the best line, this bike will go over everything. I really enjoy riding this bike. It conforms my riding style, might not be for everyone.

Weakness:

Saddle and tires

I really enjoy riding this bike and I highly recommend it. If you live in the Miami area go see Daren @Scoot Skate & Bike

Strength:

Rock solid through and over boulder and root studded New England single track.
Quick steering and surprisingly impressive on the climbs.
Going down... just point, peddle, and enjoy.

Weakness:

SLX Shimano drive train works fine but would have liked XT at this price level. Same for Elixer 3 Brakes.
Stock wheels are sluggish.

I purchased the bike at MSRP with an upgraded handbuilt wheel set made with Woodman Hubs, Aero Spokes, and Mavic TN 719 rims. The shop also upgrade the seat post and stem with carbon components.

With the swap outs this bike race ready. Super stable, easy to manuver, and very fast! This bike can hang with the carbon crowd.
