Canyon Lux CF 29er Full Suspension

DESCRIPTION

The new Lux CF combines the best of the successful Grand Canyon CF SLX 29 marathon racer with the Nerve CF full carbon model to create a perfect, full suspension 29-inch marathon race bike. The focus of the frame is the revolutionary Flex Pivot carbon rear triangle which has been specially adapted to the 100 mm spring travel and the required climbing properties of a 29-inch full suspension race bike. In contrast to the Nerve CF, however, the damper does not have a floating mount but is securely anchored in the frame. This saves even more weight and underlines the clear, fluid design.

Strength:

Climbs very well, good component mix for the money, there aren't any parts low-quality parts that need to be replaced out of the box. Great all-around XC bike. I had an s-works epic for a long time and this climbs/descends faster according to Strava. The back-end is super compliant compared to the epic, which makes cornering strong even the old-school climbing geometry.

Weakness:

Cable routing is awful, front end looks like a rats net of hydraulic lines. Wouldn't mind a little longer reach. After 50 miles of adjustments the suspension still feels harsh by comparison to my epic. The assembly required more than advertised; the front brake rubbed, stem was crooked and the lock-out line still needs to be trimmed.

Strength:

An amazing bike straight out of the box.

Weakness:

It has less options for after-market spec changes. In particular, I am not a huge fan of Avid brakes, but the brake servo is integrated with the shock/fork remote lock out from Rockshox (which, by the way, is amazing). I would love to get Shimano brakes on there, but can't without compromising the suspension lockout.

A fantastic bike. This followed 3 years of happy riding on a carbon Tallboy. Apart from the restriction on the ability to change out the brakes, IMO this is a better bike than the Tallboy, something I never thought I'd say.
