Strength:

You decide. After going to Skyline for a number of years I bought a new Salsa Warbird and wanted Skyline to change the drivetrain. Gravel bikes come with road gearing and I want the bike for mountain riding as well as road or gravel road type riding. Well, after 5 weeks (yes 5 weeks) of Skyline trying to get their changes to work, I got the bike. It didn’t shift well and there was a great deal of chain slack. After a couple of returns to the shop, I was told that the bike may never work right because of all the changes made. What? On my first ride after my last visit to Skyline, the chain came off the high gear of the cassette, cutting into the frame.

Desperate, I took the bike to Biker’s Edge. What a difference! They replaced the rear derailleur with the correct model and adjusted the drivetrain. After a couple of days I picked up the bike and now everything works perfectly. I ride the bike on trails as diverse as the Shoreline and Ogden Parkway. Next, I got a new Santa Cruz 5010, again Biker’s Edge did a great job with that bike too, with fast, knowledgeable and professional service!

I would say, if all you need is a flat tire fixed, go for it at Skyline. If you need skilled work that requires more extensive knowledge, go elsewhere. I was not going to post this, but I don’t think anyone else should have to go through this. Something is up with Skyline having so many 5 star reviews. Is any business that good?

Weakness:

Lack of knowledge and skill

The shop is clean and their puppies are always a treat. They have a great selection and if they don't have what your looking for they will order it in. By far the best bike shop in the Ogden area.

Customer Service

The staff is very personable. They are knowledgeable in all types of biking. They have made minor tweaks and just said have a good day. Definitely my shop.
I had tried other shops in the area and unless your buying a brand new bike they are not interested in solving your problem.

In my humble opinion, the best bike shop in Ogden Period.

Customer Service

I have been shopping at Skyline for a number of years, and spend 100% of the money that I put into my mountain bike addiction here. There is good reason behind this.

The staff is very personable, and knowledgable. I have a great example of this. I bought a bike from another shop four or so years ago. We had had issues with the front deraileur missing shift and causing the chain to come off. We took the bike back to this shop several times since they offered free service with the purchase. I took this bike into Skyline and they resolved the issue permanently. The deraileur had been improperly installed.

I could go on and on, but my point being you will not beat this shop if you are in the Ogden area.

The shop is super clean and organized. The Techs are always ready and willing to help out, even with the major, minor and for me what seems to be an OMG which is usually nothing they are always willing to help. I love being greeted by the dogs when I come in and the pups are super awesome with my son and try to keep him out of trouble

What a great bike shop! Knowledgeable and helpful staff. They don't try to pressure you into buying the most expensive thing, they take time to help you find what is best for you.

These guys are great. I was introduced to them through my wife and some friends. I did some looking around before going to see what I wanted and price. The store was very competitive on price and inventory. However, the staff was so far beyound the other places that I forgot about anywhere else. I bought my bike (which I love), my accessories, new clip petals, and more. They back there product better than anyone. They always take the time to make sure I understand what they're saying (I'm a little slow at times). I can't say enough good things about them.

I recently moved here and stopped in to see why lots of people had noise makers on their bikes on the trails. Got a great answer and got a great price on a new "trail bell".
I decided to bring my bike to have my fork rebuilt after this experience. Man was I impressed! Not only did my Fox fork work and LOOK like new, but my bike magically shifted better. I think this shop really goes the extra step in making sure their work is tip top.
I will definitely be purchasing my next bike from this shop- Fat bike, here I come!

Customer Service

Very proactive, but not pushy.

A great shop. Very friendly and most helpful. The technicians are great guys and willing to help you with anything. I love the feeling you get in a locally.owned shop. Matt Hasenyager is tremendous and his attitude is reflected in everyone of his staff. They are priced fairly and always honest about what they have done with your bike.

Customer Service

Great service from the moment you walk in the store. Relaxed feeling - no hype - just great people.

There is a uniqueness to Skyline Cycle that you don't find in any other bike shop in Northern Utah. It is the kind of feeling that "everybody knows your name" vs. shopping in a sterile environment which is what I find in many other bike shops. I will continue to frequent other shops but I have found a home at Skyline Cycle.

Disorganized. Associates are friendly enough, but the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hands doing. I took 2 bikes in for tune-ups. Associates said it would be a week before the bikes were done. I left both bikes there for an entire week with 1 just needing basic tune up and the other one needing basic tune up, puncture resistent tubes and new grip tape which i provided. Went back after a week and they had not even started my bike and even had difficulty finding it...(i had to tell them the color and type because they had apparently lost the work order for mine) GRRRR! My sons bike had only been grip taped and was only partially done; AFTER waiting an entire week mind you! I ended up waiting over an hour for them to finish the bikes, they talked me into getting new tubes and sealant instead of puncture resistant tubes as THEY said the sealant was JUST AS GOOD and I would not have any trouble with flat tires. I had specified doing a lot of trail riding and running into puncture weeds/glass, but they assured me the sealant seals any punctures right up and I would not get any flats. My son and I went for our first ride and low and behold got a flat tire within less than 10 miles GRRRR! I feel as though I was lied to and cheated out of my time and money. DID NOT HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENE AT ALL!!

Customer Service

Associates are friendly, but don't seem to know what's going on and they certainly don't work very well with each other. They all seem to try to help, but each has his own agenda and they do not seem to be working together or even know what the other one is doing, which is very bad when each of them is doing something different to the same bike. It's no wonder why the work order was lost or even why my sons bike was only partially done and then wasnt even quite right when they did finally finish it. They gave me a 10% discount which was a nice gesture, but not helpful as I had already waited a week for the bikes and then had to wait over an hour when I got there to pick up the bikes.

Matt was great, but his associates need to work on organization skills and need to learn to work together. I did not appreciate waisting my time and money. I already don't have enough time and I work very hard for my money. I don't think I will ever go back.

Warm and friendly atmosphere, great selection, dedicated and knowledgeable staff.
Love the dogs too.

Customer Service

Just started into biking. Brought in my new/used Mountain Bike for tune up during their Christmas special. They did a great job and in a timely manner. Matt spent nearly an hour answering all my questions and giving me tips and literature on biking trails in the area. He made me excited to get out there and ride. I was so impressed with his service and friendly manner that I brought my wife in and we bought new road bikes and gear. Best prices and awesome bikes perfectly fitted to us. Love his Saturday classes and even tried a spin class .... I loved it and will be back for more. I found my bike shop and hope they are successful and stay around a long time.
