The Bike Doctor is more of a beach bicyle oriented shop - makes sense, given that we are at the beach. They also deal with road bikes. Stock a bunch of cruiser bikes, some entry level road bikes, and a few entry level mountain bikes. They carry a ton of parts, accessories and good assortment of clothes - The parts and accessories is where the Bike Doctor shines. Not many high end or MTB specific parts, but they have the basics really well covered.

Beyond stocking mass amounts of general parts and accessories, the Bike Doctor does not have much to offer. Service is not their expertise; poor attitudes and not willing or interested in helping out. It appears to be run by a husband and wife team, that are really not that enthusiastic about being there.

I recently had what will be my last visit to this particular "bicycle shop". Prior to this particular day, I had just picked up small parts I needed here or there - some tubes, cables...general stuff. I had never had work done on any of my bikes by this guy(Dr. Tom), until this day. I do pretty much all the work on my bicycles - former shop rat/wrench; the only things I don't do, are jobs I don't have the proper tools for. I had a new fork come in(2010 Fox F29 RLC qr15) that I have been waiting(very patiently) to install on my bike. Last step was to have the Fox's steer tube cut, star nut installed, and crown race swapped over...sounds simple enough. Steerer tube cut went well enough; he had the proper cutting guide for that job. Then he moved to removing my Chris King baseplate/crown race with a small metal mallet...WHAT?!?!? Luckily it was not a suspension fork and the baseplate protruded away from the fork a good bit. He then proceeded to place my baseplate(upside down) onto the steer tube of the Fox, to get it ready for installation - I caught that the baseplate was upside down, flipped it while his back was turned grabbing the crown race setting tool, and all was good. Then to top it all off, he slammed my star nut too far down in to the steer tube, rendering it useless; apparently, he did not have the proper tool for that job either.

All in all, the Bike Doctor is good for basic bicycling needs, but nothing else. Shotty workmanship, shotty attitudes, shotty bike shop. I have since purchased the star nut setting tool, and will do the job myself from now on.

Great people work here. Doc Tom took care of my Schwinn as I waited. I thought my main sprocket bearings were gone, and just knew I was going to have a pretty significant bill. The "Doc" said, "just needed some adjusting". I was sent on my way with a wopping total cost of $5.00. Nice to run into good honest people.
