Sellwood Bicycle Repair - Bikeshops, Portland, Oregon

DESCRIPTION

Sellwood Cycle Repair is located in the scenic Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood of Southeast Portland. Set in an historic building, the atmosphere of the shop is one of personal service rather than mass merchandising. We rely on customer referrals and reputation so our emphasis is on service.

We accept good quality used bicycles for sale on consignment and are an authorized Kona Bicycles dealer. Turnover is brisk, so the inventory fluctuates rapidly. Our current inventory can be viewed on our New and Used Bicycles For Sale page which is updated daily.

Sellwood Cycle Repair offers a full service repair shop utilizing the finest replacement parts available.

Sellwood Cycle Repair is owned and operated by Steven Landon, a United Bicycle Institute and USCF Certified Mechanic, and Erik Tonkin, formerly with Pedal Sports and The Bike Gallery.

Individual seemed put-off by simple questions as if he were being interrupted. Would not simply provide cost of a typical LBS service when asked. Two customers, four employees at the time. Rude and condescending. Will not bother them anymore. Going elsewhere.

Awesome guys work there trying to get exactly the right service or product people need. They are a Kona authorized dealer(The Tonkin who they named the Honky Tonk after works here) and sell a ton of stuff on consignment. What this means is they have a ton of commuter bikes, a ton of used bikes, a handful of new Konas, and a bunch of frames and parts around.

Customer Service

This is the most consitantly awesome group of guys at a bike shop I've ever run into. They seem to love it all and want to get people on the right bike. They want to provide the right service for people. It doesn't seem to matter if you want road, mountain, or commuter they do it and like it. I'm not a cross guy, but that's appearantly where their forte is, so if yuo're into that this is probably your shop.

Small place with a bustling atmosphere, cool old road bikes on a rack outside, I assume for sale on consignment, all in a slick little corner location.

Customer Service

I'm new to town and the 52x16 I rode on my ss roadie back home doesn't cut it on Portland's hills. Stumbled upon this shop while strolling through Sellwood and they hooked me up with a used 42t ring for $10. Quick service, friendly mech's. Definitely a place I'll go back to if I need any random little parts or service. I even overheard one of the mechanics tell a surprised customer their was no charge for some minor adjustment the guy had made on the cust's bike. Gotta love a place like that!

The best cycling hangout in the best biking city. I've bought and sold many bikes there and listened to and told many stories. The big chair is mine. Erik and Steve and Jeremiah, the latest in a long line of great third guys, keep the right tone whether things are going well or badly on a given day. Pros hang out there, kids and moms feel comfortable coming in off the street, the whole atmosphere is welcoming but never sappy and if you stay there long enough you might get to see Erik chuck the occasional abusive customer out of the shop, a rare pleasure indeed.

Customer Service

Democratic, never condescending, they do only the work your bike needs and never what it doesn't. Don't expect exotic fitting services or free espresso, but if you know what you're looking for, even a little, you probably leave satisfied.
