Huge shop, they have both an outdoor store and a bike shop. They're not attached but across the street from each other. Have the largest selection of bikes, parts, and gear than anywhere else in town. They do cater to more of the active bike rider than the commuter but even have lots to offer for them as well. Usually have things on sale it seems that would be way more expensive other places. I talked to Josh once, the buyer, he scourers for deals at the suppliers so that they have primo gear at a much better cost, which is great if you're on a budget. They have a couple big sales every year as well as two used bike sales a year, one in the late spring and in the fall. I figure to help locals get rid of old bikes and capitalize on the college kids needing bikes before school starts.

Tait, the service manager makes sure Service is top notch, they have more mechanics than any other shop. Only down side is that they do such good work that they have 2 week turn around times sometimes in the summer to get your bike tuned up. Unless you're cleaver enough to make an appointment, then it's typically same day turn around.

Customer Service

I've been coming to Peak for probably 10 years or more. Usually am greeted fairly quickly. Guys here are great. Usually local college kids doing sales and turning wrenches but all properly trained and supervised by seasoned professionals.

Only issue I've come across which seems to be an issue nearly everywhere, in the summer bike shops and outdoor stores are hit an miss with getting help. At Peak, I've had mostly great service. Some of the guys who've been there longer know my name and usually have my preferences about equipment in mind and have constructive recommendations to alternatives.

I have read the comments from other posters, about prices and service. I have to say I've had my issues as well, I've had friends voice that they have had issues to. I think this is reflective of a general misunderstanding about pricing in retail. With the bargain websites like Jensen's, Chain reaction, and any other online retailer that doesn't hold to MSRP selling things at below MSRP they under cut Brick and Mortar stores Like Peak and negatively impact their and other' businesses in a variety of ways.

pros:
- a large inventory of bikes and products
- good prices on bikes
- sales manager friendly and knowledge, although new manager a bit more serious
- other local shops like Corvallis Cyclery and Bike and Hike offer great customer service at more affordable gear/parts prices, not to mention repairs.

cons:
- bike tech/repairs lacks customer service and are extremely pricey
- parts and components very pricey unless they are on clearance
- they are always very busy, have to drop off the bike even for quick easy repairs
- too many employees but the majority are not very helpful

Most complete selection of bikes in the Mid-Willamette valley especially if you are looking for more of a high end bike. Their main brands are Specialized and Trek , but can get Niner and Norco.

Customer Service

Like others have mentioned the shop can be busy and hard to get service at time. The location has limited parking, which means be ready to walk some distance on weekends. This is not just a problem for Peak, but all the Corvallis bike shops, since they all in the same area. As far as customer service in tough, I'll have to say that I have had very mixed results.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love the selection and them having more most parts in stock. I hate the inconsistent customer service and over pricing that they seem to have had lately. I bought a bike from them and they replaced a defective rear derailleur without a hitch. Plus, put it on for no labor cost. Then the last 2 visits something has changed.I had them make up a cable for my dropper seat. It should have been covered under warranty, but no. Not only did they not cover it, but they used all new parts which was not needed and charged me what I thought was way to much. I might of let it slide, but my last visit was more of the price gouging. I bought one set of Avid brake pads at another shop but they only one set, so I stopped at Peak to get the other set. The other shop charged full retail, so I expected to pay the same. Nope, $5 OVER RETAIL. If I was not going riding, I would have told them to stuff it. That was the last time that I will step into their shop. I will not go riding before I give them another dollar of my money.

Peak Sports is the biggest bicycle shop in the area with by far the largest and most diverse selection of products and the most professional and capable service department I have ever seen. The store is comfortable to shop in and the staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. They sell mostly Specialized and Trek bicycles, but I have also seen other bikes in there like Niner, Santa Cruz, Ibis and Transition. They have the only decent selection of full suspension bikes in the area. They also have a good selection of parts and clothing. Their outdoor store sells boats, backpacking equipment, skis, skateboards and other useful outdoor supplies.

Customer Service

Customer service depends a bit on how busy it is and who helps you. Almost all the staff is awesome. The have fixed several problems for me that other stores were unable to fix and make stay fixed.

good location. not much for clothing selection. lots of employees.

Customer Service

so disappointed. i went to this store twice in two says and the customer service was lacking miserably. maybe i just don't fit the bike rider image or something. i was in this store both times for well over 30 minutes and was never approached for help. i even hung out by the counter looking at lights and was never asked if i needed help or had any questions. the first day i did spend over $60 on gear. the second day i went back to get a light and a bike tool. i was looking at the bike tools and the bike tech who was very busy did ask if i needed help this time (much appreciated! thank you!). then again i went to check out the lights. i played with them, looked at them, read info on packages... looked at locks, pumps, helmets and the sale table, and never was asked by any of the men behind the counter if they could help. that is when i realized i could take my money down the street to another local shop. and that is what i did. the light was 5 bucks more there, but the service was excellent. i got the information i wanted to make the right purchase and also supported a smaller shop. i need two new locks and i don't think i'll be leaving my $140 at peak.

the youngsters on the skateboard side of the store were more welcoming to this 39 year old than the bike side. go figure...

i am giving the technical expertise rating a 3 though i didn't have any work done to my bike so i don't know. give a 3 because the technician was the one and only person who asked if i needed any help even though he was elbows deep in a bike repair. good man! he is also the reason i am giving peak a 2 for customer service. without him it would have been a 1. overall rating gets a 3 because peak has a much bigger selection than the other store down the street.

The only shop in Corvallis to carry Specialized and they know it. Expect to pay between 10-20% more for the same gear at Corvallis Cyclery or Bike n Hike on most items that are exactly the same! Don't expect any extras thrown in or deals given if you spend thousands on a bike there either.

Customer Service

You can find plenty of people working at Peak, which is good. Unfortunately they add it to the cost of the merchandise without a doubt. If you take your bike in for service, expect them to tell you it will take a couple of weeks...any time of year. Ridiculous. On two occasions my bike was not done on time and several times they did not test the fix/upgrade and I had to bring the bike back in for an adjustment. If you buy a bike and they order it and promise it by a certain date...don't believe the hype...add a few days or you will be dissapointed. The last time I was in there, they couldn't find this guys bike that he brought in for service...he was a bit upset...absolutely horrible service as far as I'm concerned.

I really don't think they are in it for the individual customer when it comes to the bike shop anyway. Corvallis Cylery is my favorite...they will bend over backward to make you happy and often times they eat a $ or two here and there...but I keep going back and spending more money, so it all works out in the long run!

This shop rocks. They always know what they're talking about. Just because they're the largest shop in town doesn't meen that they'll shoo you out the door if you're not gonna buy a race-bike.

Customer Service

The staff is always current in the latest information.

I wouldn't buy a bike from any other shop. They're the only shop that I've ever seen do complete greases on their bikes. They pull the bottom brackets and squirt grease in all the bearings, just to make sure it's extra-good! Greatest shop ever!
