I've been bringing my business to Pine Mt. Sports for the last (2) MTB seasons and have nothing but good/positive things to say about my many experiences in this store. The staff is both knowledgable and seem to genuinely have "the customers" best interest in mind.

As I've purchased (3) bikes from this shop over the previous (17) months, you can imagine that I've had copious interactions with both the owner, and most of his staff - again, all professional and customer service oriented individuals. I will admit that I have limited experience with other local shops in Bend, OR, but I suppose the caveat is that once I'd found what I was looking for, the need to search no longer existed.

Dan & Pine Mt. Sports Staff, I'd like to personally thank you for both fostering mine and my Family's recreational needs!

The gang at this shop has been very good to me and the crew from B.O.S/S.
The techs are top notch for sure. I buy most of my gear through them and will continue to do so for at least the next few years.

Customer Service

Sometimes can be a little close but still very knowledgeable

With all the bike shops in "bike town USA" I choose Pine Mountain Sports. It's the shop where they know your name, they recommend trails (bike and ski), they give tips and pointers, they care. Plus- they have the best outdoor fashion in town.

Customer Service

Top notch! I think that is what sets this shop apart- or at least why I come back.

I also value the community aspect of Pine Mountain- they sponsor events, host trail work parties, and give back. It's not in your face... but it shows

I grew up with the Cheers theme song in my home at least once a week for years. Of course, the part that sticks out the most is the line about a place where everybody knows your name. Being instantly recognized is apparently a dream for many frequenters of the neighborhood watering hole and the same can be applied to frequenters of gear shops.
Oh sure, with the current economic situation many owners and thus their employers have a greater emphasis on customer service, but some places cared about the customers before things took a turn for the worse. Pine Mountain Sports is one of those places.
Amazingly, it's still tough to get noticed in some shops, even if you have money to blow and are looking at a shiny new bike. Not Pine. They notice you when you walk in and you recognize them because they're out there riding and working on the local trails, when not stuck inside. The employees of Pine Mountain Sports know what's up with the latest material out there and the local condtitions. Yet, there is never an attitude to go with their knowledge and advice.
And beyond that Pine Mountain Sports has been doing its part to strengthen the cycling community here in Central Oregon. From hosting trail work parties, sponsoring local film/photo events, or contributing to local organizations, Dan and his wife Michelle, owners of Pine have been giving back to their community for years. Now, if we could get them some beer taps like Cheers used to have, I bet we would have Cliff and Norm walking in the front door in no time.

Pine Mountain is not like every other bike shop. Which is why I love it. Cool bikes - Santa Cruz and Gary Fisher. What makes them different in Bend is that they offer great high-end, quality clothing and outdoor gear. They don't just cater to bikes. Pine Mountain covers hiking, backpacking, camping, mountain biking, and road biking. Maybe that's why some of the other reviewers were so upset. Pine Mt. is not just oriented to bike nerds like myself.

Customer Service

They do offer great service (I was shocked to read other people's comments in this forum). Hands down, they go out of there way to help. Great service. Very involved and informed crew of employees. Note that they have two guys that work the "floor" who are also bike mechanics. Everyone in their shop really plays outdoors.

Joel and Chris are very informed bike mechanics with lots of experience. I guess now that I think about it, they have a smaller mechanic staff compared to other big bike shops but I'm happy about that. Small feel. Good vibe.
I bought a Gary Fisher Presidio there and was very pleased. They take care of me and that is what counts.

Pine Mtn Sports in Bend, OR has been my choice for a bike shop for the past three years. It has a great location on the corner of Century Dr. and Simpson (right next to Baldy's BBQ).
Bike options include Gary Fisher, Rocky Mountain, and Santa Cruz.
Bike rentals and ski rentals are offered, and you can get your skis waxed if needed too.
Best part about Pine Mtn Sports is that it is family-owned. Dan and Michelle are both super cool and take pride in making your visit to their store as enjoyable as possible.

Customer Service

This is what sets Pine Mtn Sports apart from the rest. Every time I walk into the store I get the answers I need and service done immediately. Dan (the owner) is always at the store greeting customers and making sure that you leave the store with the items you came in for. There is never any added pressure to buy something you don't want/need.
The mechanics (Chris and Joel) are great, and totally friendly. I bring my bike in for a tune up and it's ready the next day, hassle free and ready for an 8-hour race.

I would highly recommend Pine Mtn to anyone looking for a bike shop with other ammenities (such as cool clothing, a large shoe/boot inventory, and plenty of gear to choose from. Oh yeah, Cog Wild Bike Tours is now operated in the upper level of the shop, so if you are from out of town and looking for a bike tour you can kill two birds with one stone.

Not your prototypical bike shop. By this I mean they offer many options for the outdoor enthusiast. Anything from outdoor clothing, shoes/boots, gear, bars they have it all. Oh yeah for thatlast minute need for a clif bar, always on hand right next to the check out counter. Immediately you will notice how clean the store always is, something most bike shops are not. Departments are spaced out nicely so that it is easy to navigate and find what you are looking for.

Customer Service

Above and beyond. If CS is what you make your decision on, then this is the place. Each time I walk into the store I am greeted by Dan (the owner) and several other staff members. I get what I need, all questions answered, products needed, and no added pressure to buy something I don't need. The guys in the Bike Dept are great. Chris and Joel both know their sh_t and neither has an ego (something that is usually pretty common in a bike shop).
I can drop of my bike and know that whern I pick it up (usually the next day) I am good to go. Considering I compete in endurance events lasting 6-9 hours it's a nice feeling to not have to worry about something going wrong.
I highly recommend if you sare in Bend, OR to stop by and check out Pine Mtn Sports. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit and probably strike a conversation with Dan

They have a lot of outdoor gear and some bikes. Gary Fisher, Santa Cruz, Titus. No road bikes at all. Consider it an REI without the corporate ownership. Calling PMS a bike shop is like calling Starbucks a bakery.

Customer Service

Very friendly, very pretty people work here. On average, the most attractive staff in Central Oregon. If only looks were brains. They must be making it on all their other outdoor gear, because they sure as hell don't know their bikes. "Did you know that Gary Fisher was a real person?" Yes! I've heard that! In fact I'm pretty sure he still is . . . God help you if you have an actual technical question.

Their mechanic - whoever it might happen to be when you're there, as it seems to change monthly - is hit-and-miss, at best. I won't let them work on my bikes, but I have friends who've bought bikes from them in the past and use their free tune-up, then pay another shop to touch up the adjustments that PMS screwed up.

I can't help wondering if they keep bikes around just because they're in the same building as Cogwild.

Similar Products Used:

The reality is that PMS is not a bike shop. It's a classic case of a "Jack of all trades" and a master of none. They are an outdoor store that happens to sell bikes along with hiking boots, and hiking boots are much easier for them.

If you just have to have the words "Titus" or "Gary Fisher" painted on the side of your bike, this is your place. As for Santa Cruz (which is 80
% hype to begin with), there's a real bike shop just a few blocks away that sells them and has people with tons of experience and bike knowledge.

I have been going to Pine Mountain Sports for the past 4 years and have nothing but great things to say. During the Spring Summer and Fall they meet all of my mountain biking needs. During the winter they have excellent cross country skiing/snow shoeing rental/sales. They carry high quality products.

Customer Service

I bought my Rocky Mountain there and have had nothing but excellent service. I have been doing an unusual amount of riding lately (a crapload). And they have been able to tune my bike at a moments notice. The owner and his staff are always pleasant, responsive, and communicate clearly about their products and or service. There location is close to some of the best trailheads in Bend and you can ride right from the store. If you need trail maps, trail conditions, or just a great place to eat in Bend they will point you in the right direction.
