DESCRIPTION

the shop is one stop for everything, the owner races both road ad mountain and coustomer service is outstanding, the selection of bikes on hand is some what lacking, but the components from head sets to tires, and the time the owner will spend with you to make sure you walk out happy, informed, and with anything you need, more than makes up for the lack of a shiny display of thousand dollar bikes,

Strength:

Best bike shop ever. Period. Will never go anywhere else to buy, repair, or tune up my bikes. Dave is the quintessential good guy merchant who is a virtual wealth of knowledge of any thing that has to do with bikes. Like others have stated, Dave will never sell you something you don't need and always finds the right fit for you no matter what you are looking for. I bought my first road bike there after a friend recommended Dave and he spent forever talking to me trying to figure out what would be best. When I told him my budget, he didn't recommend the most expensive bike, but rather discouraged me from even going up a price point, saying it wouldn't be worth the extra money for what I would be using it for. Love this guy!! Could go on forever about him but you get the picture.

Weakness:

No weaknesses that I can see!!! Not a bad thing to say!

Small shop with limited on hand selection of bikes and accessories, but infinite and immediate access to whatever you need through the web and an unparalleled level of bike knowledge and intuition.

Customer Service

Dave is the heart and soul of this exceptional shop. He is the most informed, honest and engaged shop owner/staff ever. He listens closely, observes keenly, fixes everything right the first time, and never charges enough for his repairs. He knows his products thoroughly because he rides them all with lots of additional input from his local road and woods riding compadres.

Dave runs a one man shop. He actively races both Road and XC, and has a lifetime of experience with bikes of all kinds.
The shop is small, and he stocks the most common items/parts needed, but doesn't have everything (though he can get you anything you need in a timely fashion and a fair price). The repair/service area is open to view from the front of the shop, and is always full of bikes from the rusted Walmart special to bikes that are worth as much as some nice cars...
Dave is meticulous in his attention to detail, and stands by his work. You may wait a bit to get your bike back from service, but rest assured that it is worth the wait.

Customer Service

Dave is not a salesman. By that I mean that he is honest to a fault. Last time I was in the shop I watched him talk a guy OUT of replacing a $1000+ wheelset for his road bike, when all that he needed was new bearings. He will explain in detail WHY this rim is better than that one, and tailors his advice to the rider in question. Dave can be trusted to tell the truth, and give his honest opinion on a product, bike, trend, etc. and not just spout whatever will get you to buy something. He spent time with me (and my tight budget) to find the RIGHT bike for me.

I've been a customer of Dave's off and on since 2003. I used to ride BMX, and bought many replacement parts from him, as well as receiving solid advice. I stopped riding my BMX bike seriously about 6 years ago (kids and all that), but recently wanted to get back on a bike. Dave remembered me by name even after not being a regular for several years. Dave sold me a 29er hardtail, and gave me some valuable pointers on my new bicycling adventure.

I'm a life long customer. I will only shop at Rockland Cycle.

Others have already said it. This shop is great.

I just went in and asked what I could get on a modest budget of $400 dollars for a hardtail XC bike. He showed me what he had, talked about frames, geometry, wheel size and spent 45 minutes talking to somebody that isn't spending all that much on a bike (he's got some amazing bikes in there for sale and for repair). I went in multiple times as I shopped around for a bike, each time he took the time to talk to me and let me try the bikes he had.

I've come in since my purchase to get some accessories and I've been impressed with his knowledge and the fact that he'll sell you what you need which most of the time isn't the most expensive thing on the wall. Also, he told me that for the first year I own the bike I get free labor. Tune-ups included. Or if I break a part, I'm just paying for the replacement.

I'd highly recommend Rockland Cycle to anyone. Dave is great and he's earned a loyal customer in me.

Customer Service

Old school, customer focused.

The shop is on the smaller side but has something for everyone in there. The bikes are racked on either side as you walk in with a shoe display a the end you walk in at. In the middle is the Display counter and register w=at the far end is the shop which is open to view from the sales area. To coina fraise from a general store in vermont "If it's not in here ,you don't need it". He has the things we all need and use up quite often. His prices are excellent as well as his sales ethics . He won't try to sell you something you don't need and talked me out of some things I was planning on buying but didnt really need. He has Race bikes, Mountain bikes and fun bikes.

Customer Service

The customer service here is the best service I have recieved around the area. I was driving 30 minutes to a well known shop until I found about this shop and it's owner,Dave Letorneau. I had an old Serotta Hors Categorie built up by him. He was as excited as I was to get it built! There is nothing he cannot fix, tune or repair. Like others have said he will talk to you,get a sense of who you are and what you need and give it to you at a very fair price. I also had him dial in my fit on my bike and he was very adept at putting me on it in the most effcient position. I have not ridden as fast or as powerful with my last shop's "professional fitter". I'm sticking with Dave and Rockland cycles!

Are you sick of taco'ed wheels and trying to fins someplace to roder them from? Look no further, Dave the owner is a consumate wheelbuilder. I quick question will get you a short lecture on the finer points of building a great wheel. Ive been on rides with several groups and have heard many rave about Dave's wheels. He will also give you a set he builds as loane wheels to let you try them or if you are in a pinch and wreck a rim call him and he will more than likely loan a set to you,but beware you'll want a set of your own. Are you a budding tri-athlete? He even carries an affordable GOOD line of bikes for this as well as Gary Fisher line of Mountain bikes.

This is a small store. Yet, he stocks a lot of useful things to me. He also gets new stuff all of the time. He tries out all of sorts of things. He knows road bikes and mountain bikes. He sells high end racing road bikes and high end mountain bikes. He carries the best equipment at the best price point regardless of brand name. He also carries some MTB and road bikes at very affordable price points such as under $1,000 or $700.

Customer Service

The service is good. He can fix anything. He does not take long. It might take 3 days at the most when other shops in the area require TWO WEEKS to do a horrible job. He gets good replacement parts. Dave knows everything about Campy, the SRAM line, and the Shimano lines.

Dave knows a lot about wheels, too.

I have used this shop for the past six years and have gotten to know and respect the owner. Let me tell you, I know few people as technically proficiant as this man. He eats and sleeps bicycles. He religously rides and has been riding for many years. A true cyclist's mechanic. What's more, he is a good, honest, honorable businessman and a family man. He takes the time to find out what the customer needs and wants (which is not always the same thing) and he gives them the straight dope at a fair and reasonable price. I have NEVER EVER seen this man try to swindle a customer. Rockland Cycle is deserving of your business and I would take issue with anyone who would say otherwise.

Customer Service

Second to none.

the shop is kind of crouded when you walk in you are faced with the main display of bikes, the counter and work area are no more than 12 feet apart, and the only one working there is the owner, kind of a good thing and a bad thing all in one, repairs and tuneups take a little time but he is exelent at what he dose, the good thing is you don't have some kid behind the counter that just wants to ring you up and get you out of there.

Customer Service

the owner is extreamly helpfull when it comes time to upgrade he dosn't shuv the most expencive parts at you and say everything else is junk, he will feel you out and help you make the right choice for what you need, though he dose have an impressive selection of expencive toys, i go there every now and then just to shoot the #@%$, he will make you feel right at home

the only reason i gave the coustomer service rating a 4 is because of the time it take to get your bike back from a tune up/repair
