Dan Callaghan at Action Cyclery helped me out after breaking a wheel in the Anza Borrego Desert. Full story at

Very courteous, knowledgable and helpful. Dan, Steve and others are honest and modest in prices. Have not yet found another bike shop like them. They would even tell you if their shop is not the right place if they think so for specific parts/product. Their prices are so very reasonable that you would often end up over-estimating. I would suggest going to them or just talking to them for all your needs.

Customer Service

Excellent and timely

One of those rare modest bike shops you would find in the US.

Local bike shop that provides excellent personal service on a timely basis. What could be better for a serious cyclist!

Customer Service

I ride all over the world, big miles on rough chip seal roads like New Zealand and Australia, as well as east county San Diego. I am hard on my bike and Dan and the crew keeps me rolling. They provide the best cutomer service I have ever recieved at a local bike shop. Thanks for having me ready to go worry free at my Ironamn triathlons.

If you want a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful bike shop, then this is the shop for you. This is NOT a 'bike superstore', but a independant local shop, with just a few employees who will spend the time to help you out. They've got a good selection of Mountain Bikes and all the usual accessories

Customer Service

This is the bike shop for service, not the BS that you get at the Super Store. They will fix your bike at half the price in less the half the time. Do not be fooled by the big name shops.

Dan, the owner, is great. I've stopped in multiple times looking for hard to find parts. He's always spent the time to help, and is happy to special order what ever your looking for. I needed a $7 13mm-15mm combo axle cone wrench. He spent the time looking it up in the catalog, checking with his supplier and got it in for me within a couple of days. All this for a couple of dollars profit.
Some of the larger 'bike superstores' have more selection on the shelf, but I've found the employees often too busy taking phone or internet orders to be of much help.

This little shop is gold! Great customer support. I've been to several other shops in the San Diego area but this one is the best by far.

Customer Service

Excellent, personalized customer service. They're a small enough shop that you can drop your bike off the day before a big ride and be sure that it'll be ready in time. At other shops I've ocassionally had to wait a whole week for simple repairs or upgrades.

I've tried several other privately owned and chain shops in San Diego (Mira Mesa, Escondido and Oceanside) and they've all exibited the tendancy to overcharge for their bikes and service. Some of the other local shops have even tried to charge me for service I didn't need or ask for!

Action Cyclery, however, has always been fair in their pricing and they always make you feel welcome in their shop. I'd highly recommend this bike shop to anyone who's tired of the big chain shops and their attitudes.
