Weekend Warrior

The only Auburn store that's focused on MTB. Both Victory Velo and Bicycle Emporium split their effort to include road bikes.

Customer Service

Awesome. Pete (lead mech) and Mike (manager) are both very competent and knowledgable. More importantly, they're willing to spend time helping you get smarter and more skilled. Repairs are handled fast. Their mechanics first reflex when you bring a bike in is to reach for a wrench, not a calendar. The only time I had to leave the bike was when a part had to be ordered. They dont have a lot of stock on the floor, but they usually have what you need, particularly if you're a local rider. They're really focused on the MTBers riding the local trails.

ABW has a great selection of bikes and parts. From high end to budgets, they have everything.

Customer Service

ABW has helped me many times with repairs, advice, and even recommending a bike they don't sell because it would fit my riding style. Always friendly and helpfull.

The shop makes you feel at home. Theres a calm, yet business like atmosphere where they treat you as more of a friend than a customer. It has a convinient location, and the store has just about everything you need with nothing you dont.

Customer Service

I have found the service to be very reliable, affordable, and time efficient in all of my visits there. One employee in specific has a great attitude and extremely hard work ethic, I belive his name is Chris. I would recommend him, or Ash, for questions that you just arent sure of, because they will have the answers.

Hard to get to store location, not a bad shop. Need a tube? They're in the back where you can't see them or choose what you want. Need rim tape...same. Feel like waiting awhile while the clerk tries to find anything? Why bother.

Customer Service

S L O W service and inexperienced. When the customer gets home and finds out he has a long stem presta tube and the narrowest rim tape for his mountain bike (when he even brought his wheel in...) that pretty much sucks. Should have known after the sales guy tried to sell me a road bike rim liner, then the mechanic advises I use electric tape instead of velox cloth rim tape...

Also, bought a mini pump from them, 2 months later it breaks. Brought it back in and had to leave it w/ my phone number to see if they'll even give me a new one or my money back. WTF?

Been in there 3 times and will never go back. The other bike shop is just such a way nicer experience, quicker better service - even if both are over-priced, Auburn Bike Works has the worst of the pricing. (You know they're over-priced when REI has better prices on items).

LBS should know more than the customer, especially when it comes to simple items like rim tape size and presta valve standard mtb tubes...

This shop has bailed me out with numerous installs and repairs. I live an hour away but have made the drive numerous times to receive competent advice and assistance. This shop was recommended to me and I continue to recommend it to others.

Customer Service

I've worked with one specific employee (Ash) several times and remain impressed with his attitude and willingness to help out a fellow rider.

As the other reviewers said, Auburn Bike Works treats you like one of their own. I felt like that the first time I went in there, and it's been the same ever since.

Customer Service

Excellent! Very helpful and knowledgeable. I have been to a lot of bike shops over the years I have been riding and few measure up to the way Auburn Bike Works treats you.

Since I had moved to the area several years ago, I had been to other shops in the general area and not been happy with the way I was treated. Most of the other shops had one or two employees that maybe cared, but the rest varied from indifferent to rude.

Finally one day I went to the Auburn Bike Works. What a huge differnce! Every body that I've met so far has been great.

Auburn Bike Works, more than a bike shop, a community of friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable, local bike riders who happen to work at really great bike shop. The shop is locally owned and operated. Over the years, since 1972, this shop has helped to organize races of all sorts, and to open off road trails for bicycle use. Call and see if they're doing a shop ride this week. Thos are fun too.

Customer Service

Wonderful customer service. The shop is just the right size so when you need help its easy to get. That is if one of the Auburn Bike Works employees hasn't already welcomed you to the store, which is usually the case. Refreshingly, they don't even "try" selling you anything. They usually just want to know how your riding is going, or if you've been able to ride something really great in the area. Of course if you want to buy something they won't stop you, and they carry good products which pretty much sell themselves. The shop always knows current trail conditions and are happy to give trail advice to suite your style of riding. They'll fix your bike. They're nice and friendly.

The quality of gear is excellent yet the shop is small and so unable to carry the volume of goods displayed in the mega stores. However they are willing to spend a lot of time educating their customers and finding just the right gear you need at the moment. Also they don’t put down brands that they don’t carry. As an example I ride a brand that the shop doesn’t carry but it is still the first place I go when I need service of any kind. Like a lot of shops the staff are talented bike riders who love what they do. Unlike a lot of shops they have folks with serious expertise in trials, downhill and dirt jumping. Finally the shop has been in business since 1972 and the original owner, Dan Olmstead, was instrumental in creating the fantastic mountain biking area in Cool, CA. Additionally, Auburn Bike Works gives back to the biking community by first creating and then sponsoring the Cool Race since 1993.

Customer Service

I work in the software industry and customer service/support are key to getting the most benefit from any software package as well as creating happy customers. The staff at this shop does a better job of taking care of their customers than most highly paid, professional software trainers and techs that I’ve worked with. Since I’m ancient the average age of the staff seems young to me but their level of technical expertise combined with a sincere desire to get you back on the trail and having fun is amazing. I’m always surprised at how many times they are able to juggle several jobs so that they fix my problem while I wait. Give them a try; I believe you will come away as impressed as I am.
