Sunday Cycles Bike Shop - Bikeshops, Phoenix, Arizona

Sunday Cycles Bike Shop - Bikeshops, Phoenix, Arizona

DESCRIPTION

Combining his passion for cycling with business acumen, Joe Berman decided it was time to leave corporate America behind and strike out on his own with Sunday Cycles. With support from his family and friends, he built his business with a grassroots ethic—each new customer became a new friend.

Joe literally built Sunday Cycles by hand—spending a month building out the store, from putting up the shelves to hanging the lights—then updating his progress on Facebook as it all came together. Facebook also helped him find his customers—both in the Valley and around the world.

The brand-new shop is a hangout as much as a gear destination. Joe wants everyone to feel at home—stop in and make yourself at home on the sofa to share your latest bike story or a joke. He’ll give you an education while you have a glass of wine or a nutrition sample.

Building community is as important to Berman as building the business—he’s a Native Phoenician and has a large family in the Valley.

Cyclists of all levels are valued at Sunday Cycles. With Joe’s industry expertise and Sunday Cycles’ wide range of products, they can outfit a little girl on her first bike with training wheels, or a grown man or woman with a totally custom road cycle. From mountain bikes to comfort, cruisers, tri and kids’ bikes to gear and accessories, Sunday Cycles has something for everyone.

A great place to start. I went in after visiting many other shops, which I left those cause I just didnt feel comfortable. But here was a new feeling. I didnt leave with a bike but what I did leave with was a great sense that the guys there all took there time to educate on what "it" needs to be. I left really understanding things that no one else cared to tell me. I feel know I can make the write choice based on the geometry factors and ability and not a "cost" factor. I highly recommend this shop even if you have no intension on buying an expensive bike, the guys will welcome you and give you all the answers you need to move forward.....

Sunday Cycles is perfect for any variety of rider to just walk in either to bounce questions off the mechanics or pick Joes (owner) very knowledgeable brain for any reason, bike related or not. Very comfortable with an urban type rock mix with the aroma of coffee and popcorn. The shop also has an awesome shop feel due to the bar overlooking the bike stands and tool racks. Many shops Ive come across have been nice, any shop can be nice, but it seems they all have some snooty-ness about them that walks me right back out the door. Not in Sundays case, great people and very VERY approachable no matter who you are. Also, they are extremely helpful and will go to the ends to solve any issue you may have.

Customer Service

In my case, the customer service has been nothing but a good experience. Very knowledgeable staff and very good with tech questions, i am impressed. There was not one time I was ignored or looked over. On another note, every time I have ever been to the shop it has been pretty packed. This was great to see for two reasons, one being that it was busy full of people getting some bling for their bikes. The other reason I thought it was good to see the traffic in the shop was because each customer was being helped and if they were waiting the staff would address them and let them know they were their priority, very cool to see. As Im sure we all know, there are shops out there where you can wait around and wait around for nothing and end up talking to nobody and walking out.

Joes's got an awesome shop and treats everyone like family, whether you are just stopping by to chat with the crew or you are order a new bike or parts. The environment he has created is unlike any bike shop or retail store that I have ever entered!

Customer Service

The customer service is exceptional!! There have been two separate occasions where I have need a repair. The first time was a simple fix, but I didn't realize it was an issue until I was headed to the trail with my fiance and son. They were able to fix my bike within 10 minutes while my finance and son waited in the Jeep. The second service was a rear hub repair that was done while I sat at the bar and visited. The shop was very busy, but they made a nice effort to get the work done while I waited. Overall, great customer service.

I moved to AZ in November 2010 and have been to most of the bike shops in the area. None have felt more like home than Sunday Cycles. This is just the shop I've been looking for! Real people with a passion for what they do. My experience with Sunday started at a race in December when I had never heard of the shop. I was involved in a bad crash and the guys from the shop happened to be riding behind me. Giving up their race time, they stopped to help me up and make sure I was okay. I rode into the transition and my bike was completely useless. One of the guys stepped up and loaned me his bike to finish the race. Sunday Cycles saved my day! Everyone at the shop is super rad and knows what they're talking about. They're always willing to lend a hand or just hang out and talk bikes. It's just a comfy place to be. The product selection is excellent and I'm sure if they don't have a part in stock, they'd be happy to order it for you.

Customer Service

It's the best! They guys know everything you need to know and are also willing to teach you anything you don't know. Super friendly people who will always greet you with a smile and offer you a cup of coffee or juice box (my fav).

Found this shop thanks to a friend who lives around the corner, my new bike was in the shop that I bought it from getting a sprocket replaced (that I broke), so I stopped by Sunday Cycles to have them look at a couple little things on my backup, while I waited for my riding buddy. In 15 minutes they fixed the 3 little things that were bugging me (bent brake rotor, tough shifting front derailleur, seat post that kept creeping down) that bike hadn't ridden that well in years!
The whole staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, regulars are always there just talking bike. Something to say about a place people keep coming back to.

Customer Service

Excellent! They know bikes and aren't like the Big Bike shop chains (you know the one's) that will just sell you anything just to move inventory, or tell you you need something you don't. They also have good coffee and juice boxes for you while you browse!

Customer Service

I've known Joe for several years, and have bought several bikes from him. Ran across a few other bike deals that looked pretty good from individuals as well as another bike shop. The last 2 bikes I bought (not from Joe), I sold because they were not the right bikes for me. Joe will not just sell you "any" bike. After finding what I wanted and finding out that it was not available for several months, I attempted to buy a bike off his floor that he knew was not right for me, and I didn't really want. He told me we would continue to search for the right frame and go from there. Well, I did find the frame from another out of state shop and bought it. Joe helped me with the rest of the build, and I got all the parts from him. If it were not for Joe's honesty, I would have bought the wrong bike again....When that happens, I usually wind up taking a bath and trying again. This time, with Joe's coaching, I'll get more than 6 months out of my new bike. Blake's pretty awesome too.

nice shop, good selection, great brands. A little on the smaller side, but I prefer to support the "little" guys in the bike world. One of the few shops I have seen that carry santa cruz, and supposably kona's, they also had felt and a few other brands.

Customer Service

This is definatly where these guys shine. Hands down the most friendly place and helpfull people around. Most stores expect you to know exactly what you are there for, I was just there to browse/chat and they were totally cool with that, treated me like a repeat customer/friend, even though this was my first time in. Joe and I probably chatted for 30 mins about this and that, I learned a thing or two and was on my way. I just wish i lived closer because i would prefer to do business with these guys.

Immediately after you walk into Sunday Cycles, you realize that its a little bit different than your normal bike shop. When your asked if you want some coffee, a soda, or some cliff bars for the road, I don't know, I like that. You can sit on the chairs or sofa, talk about falling off the bike on the mountain trail, or upcoming events, oh yeah, you can just sit there and hang out. No one said you have to buy something when your in there.

Its not a huge place by any means, but they utilize the space pretty well. Since its not the size of Costco, they don't have an enormous inventory, but they can get you almost anything that you fancy, from budget parts (say just to get the bike going), to names like Shimano and Sram, Chris King and Crank Brothers. You get the idea. In case they don't have that particular item in stock, they can get it really fast, most things within 2-5 days. And If your looking to have your bike tuned up, they're really good at that too.

Customer Service

I have been helped quite a few times by both Joe (the owner) and Will (the mechanic). As I said in the summary, the bike shop is pretty laid back, as most are, but you can really just relax after a ride there, or talk about cool upcoming products.

If you need to get your bike fixed, Will can do it. Or if you'd rather do it your self, but don't have a clue, talk to him, he can set you straight. And he is honest about what needs to be done to get your bike fixed up, he wont tell you to replace something unless it truly should be done, regardless of wether your working on it, or he is.

All in all I am impressed with the quality of this shop, its laid back, they have enough stuff to entertain your eyes while your in there, and they are always happy to see you.
