Minooka Park - Trail, Waukesha, Wisconsin

Minooka Park - Trail, Waukesha, Wisconsin

DESCRIPTION

Trailhead starts at Picnic Area 5 parking lot. There is a $4 fee to enter the park.

It is a 1.5 mile loop of very easy singletrack, almost nothing technical. Dries out quickly and good for XC training.

A section was added in 2015 making it a 6 mile trail loop. The newest wooded section is twisty with a few rocky challenges. Overall the trail is quite nice including beginner sections that are fun at high speed and some nice wooded areas that keep your attention. You can add a mile (each way) by parking near the Minooka entrance and biking the road uphill to the back of the park where the trails are. It gets you warmed up for the trail and adds a downhill glide at the end of your ride.

The clearly marked blue (intermediate) trail is a great addition to Minooka. GPS app put it right around 4.5 miles. I rode through one time at 35 minutes with average speed of 7.5 mph. Not as technical as John Muir or Emma Carlin, but much closer to home.

Looking forward to next phase which will be advanced trail! The beginner (green) trail is flat and wide and not at all technical. Best suited for young kids.

I thought this review needed an update based on a new intermediate loop at this park. The intermediate loop is lots of fun with some minor climbing, berms tight twisters and a few little jumps. I clocked about 4 miles which is a little short but fun to ride 2 times.

Trails are well marked, just follow the blue signs!

Extremely short and easy. However, I enjoy having an easy trail nearby for days I just want to train cardio. There are a few fun little parts and more could be added, but their goal was probably to keep it pretty relaxed.

The best part about this trail is that it was extremely dry just a couple days after rain. The Milwaukee River Trail and Crystal Ridge tend to stay underwater for much longer.

The thing that hurts it the most for me is the $4 fee to get into the park. I GLADLY pay the fee to ride the John Muir Trails in Kettle Moraine, but the Minooka Trail is only a 1.5 mile loop and extremely easy.

I might come back again, but I think I prefer to ride free, longer trails. Still, excellent work on the trail Metro MTB. Thank you!
