Hobbs Woods - TRAIL

Hobbs Woods - Trail, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

The outer oval is mainly for hiking, and is a wide trail with little to offer. The singletrack trails lining the creek are where the technical parts are. You wont get a lot of speed here except for the occasional downhill, but expect tons of roots, hairpin turns, sharp dropoffs, water crossings, and tight squeezes. Very run down trails however, watch out for blowdowns, flooding, and hikers.

When I was younger these trails were very well kept, and had woodchips everywhere for hiking, but now the trails are pretty much left to ruin. However, this makes for some surprisingly good biking. There are a ton of side trails plus a few dead ends, and the map at the trailhead doesnt provide a very accurate description of where the main trails go either, just ride around for a while to find some good runs, its a relatively small area. The huge steep downhills going down the west side of the river are great if you can stay behind your handlebars and can slow down in time to stay out of the river. Dont even try some of this stuff wihtout decent brakes though. Some bad stuff: VERY run-down! watch out for the occasional tree over the trail or a washout, also theres always a few hikers around so be careful of that.

Just follow the river. The outer oval is pretty boring, all the good stuff is by the water.
