One word: GRASS! I'm a girl, an intermediate mtn biker, and have been to Kettle and Black River Falls and this totally SUCKED. You can't get any momentum on the annoying grass that grows everywhere! Maybe I'm just spoiled from riding dirt single-track elsewhere but I would NOT go here again. Nice place to hike and picnic, but leave your mountain bike at home, as you'll only go home frustrated and unsatisfied.

Better than nothing. Just your average Wisconsin jaunt over hill and dale, to Grandmother's house we go. A couple of very short steep tricky sections, a little bit of sand, but mostly just mowed grass paths. For the extreme, you can hit a 50-foot cliff down into the canyon and rocks below, however it is not survivable. Still, though, if you guys take that one, there will be a lot less whining coming from y'all.

Customer Service

Main parking lot, up the steep hiull, do the big loop twice. For those that constantly whine about Wisconsin trails, I recommend you ride I-94 at midnight wearing black, with no headlight or taillight.

It's true that these trails are extremely wuss-oriented. If you're an experienced rider, don't even bother. On the other hand, there are some really beautiful views to be had along the trails. Beginners would enjoy this trail.

Customer Service

Any trail or road that leads away from Governor Dodge State Park and toward a real trail.

Mostly tame to dull, with some of the most technical trials riding ever not allowed.

wide, few singletrack, feels like it is all up hill, needs more mt.bike, and less horses, that would be good, equestrians are pricks, like they pay to maintain the trails, and leave their horseshit everywhere. good excercise, first uphill is paved so that there is little erosion, after that it is ok, carefl in the morning, for the trails are mostly grass, and little hardpack, very slippery and dangerous.

For a serious mountain biker this is not worth the trip; I would call it a girlfriend ride. If she's not into biking its a good intro. Not technical in the least although there are a few climbs and semi-fast decents.

Start at Cox Lake. After riding you can go for a swim in the lake and take a (cold) shower in the bath house.

The most technical, insane riding in South West Wisconsin. trials skills a plus, must be able to lower seatpost and avoid rangers, etc.

Don't let those bad reviews fool you the trail has plently to keep you busy all weekened. I have to agreed though with Jim Parman a friend of mine who I ride with and showed this trail, you seem to spend a lot of time climbing. Though that was back in our less fit days, so if you have the stamina don't worry. This trail is plenty technical stuff in some sections to challenge yourself. Though for a beginning rider it also has that covered. Theirs a lot of trail here so don't waste your time at the beach.
