Sucia Island State Park - Trail, Orcas Island, Washington

Sucia Island State Park - Trail, Orcas Island, Washington

DESCRIPTION

Single-track rolling along the sandstone cliffs with serious roots & drops, to rolling paths wide enough for a car. From beginner to technical, you will love it! I was fortunate enough to be one of the first people on the NorthShore Charters Mtn Bike trip & it was unbelievable! Just becareful along the sandstone cliffs, the fall into the puget sound is not a pleasant one!

Sucia has it all. Easy fire roads, cliff-hugging trails (remember LWYWTG, NWYD), gnarly singletrack, very technical terrain, scary black diamond challenges, steep climbs, fast descents, rocks, roots and ruts. Best of all were the views: tide-sculpted rocky shoreline, 30’-long seakelp, bloody Madrona’s, the Puget Sound, Whistler over here, Mount Baker over there. Overall, not a hard day of riding, just the right mix of aerobic challenge, interesting trails, campsites and wilderness; kind of what Huck and Tom would like if they’d had dual suspension. If you want harder trials, swim to Bellingham or the North Shore.
