Mukilteo Japanese Gulch - Trail, Mukilteo, Washington

Mukilteo Japanese Gulch - Trail, Mukilteo, Washington

DESCRIPTION

Plenty of single track, logging roads and the best drops I have seen in this area by far. The teeter-totter is f@%!ing amazing! There are other entrances to these trails, so if you start from the main trailhead, you're going to be doing some climbing right off the bat! You know what that means though...you get to come back down eventually! The trails run on both the East and West sides of the railroad tracks and the trains do run so be careful. These trails are maintained by the Japanese Gulch Crew and it looks like they have put a lot of effort into this area so if you show up...ride respectfully!

I'll never understand why this place isn't packed. It's not big - three hours and you could traverse every trail. But that's a pretty good ride for an evening and there's enough climbing to get a great workout. The gulch is in danger of being sold. Give it a ride and then check out www.japanesegulch.org to see what you can do to help save it. It would be a shame to give up local single track for another strip mall.

The trails are oftecn a little slippery but very nice over all forallriders pleasers lots woods plenty of switchbacks amogst ever trail trails have little places to stop here and there to take a break and look around and feel as free as bird with your seroundings with. With the sound of the water in the creek cascaddining down the beds. Going toward its finely destanation. The Puget sound. I myself have taken my 6 year old and my 11 year old. on some of the easer trails and we've always have a lot of fun and in respect our trails places to ride if you see litter and water bottles decarded upoe and hike. I myself like to park up near boeing's light towers but not sure. How safe it is to park there for Burlington railroad has a gate saying no trespassing at top but have never been botherd for parking there so I chose that place over the lower spot off street in mukilteo.but being a forever resident of muk

I love this place. I'm mystified that it's never busy. There are some nice flowy single track trails and enough roots, little jumps & drops, and terrain variety to fill a good three hour ride. The trails could use a bit of maintenance, and it definitely has drainage issues, but if it's been dry, it's a great way to to kill a few hours.

I was not expecting much, seen as how the last review was from 2004. It was wet and sloppy, but still a fun ride. It was kinda sad to see all the old stunts that used to be at the top of the hill. If you are in the Everett area it's an good weekday ride. This was my first time riding here and I plan on making it my local trail.

Customer Service

I parked at the gravel road past the bridge. Headed up the hill, stayed on the right side of the tracks and cut across the creek at just before the giant silver pipes. I headed up the hill until I hit the main trail until it took me to the top. There are quite a few offshoots from the main trail.

It has been a long time since someone had written a review so I thought I'd give everyone an update. Many of the skinnies and big drops have been neglegted and are falling apart. Huckers need not apply. The single track is great however. It's beginner intermediate stuff with a few jumps and drops if you go looking for them. I love this place. It's perfect for a two hour ride. It was almost developed but (amazingly) was saved. The biggest down side is drainage. The gulch turns into a clay grease ball for days after a rain. Still, it's local and plenty of fun. See you out there...

The kids building this backyard northshore know what there doing! I enjoyed a couple drops and a huge teeter. test your skills and maybe help with the construction. I rode there a year or so ago, hopefully theres more stuff to ride now - but you can only build so many sections on a hillside..

Customer Service

The only trails I rode that day were the tech sections. the other trails in that area probably just lead to this section...
